I say to ignore the offensive content, but if it really gets to you then to get off social media.

Everyone has a right to their own opinion. As long as it's not illegal, they shouldn't be able to take it down or do anything to shut it down.

 @9V77MDJ from Virginia  answered…4mos4MO

It should be allowed, perhaps marked as potentially offensive, and those who wish to avoid seeing those

 @9V75YSMRepublican from California  answered…4mos4MO

 @9V765LD from California  answered…4mos4MO

Anything that's offensive (race, sex, gender, children, human rights, money, bullying, politics, religion, struggles, marginalized groups, conspiracy theories, etc.) should be removed from any site, and under no circumstances be promoted. Things like these topics and terms of offensiveness should be used as examples on how not to use social media. It's okay to have an opinion, as long as it's not hurting anybody, if it does then just simply keep it to yourself. The media should inherit the golden rule "If you don't have anything nice to say, then don't say anything at all" and apply it to its platforms.

 @9V75DFF from California  answered…4mos4MO

It should handle it to where it is still allowed, and not super strict because often times it leads to bias and silencing of people speaking out

 @9V73SRD from Texas  answered…4mos4MO

Social Media regulation should handle illegal conent than offencisve content because why would Social Media be more worried about offensive stuff when there other stuff that are way beyond that like somthing illegal.

 @3HCB9RGIndependent answered…4mos4MO

It should be allowed. Free speech should apply to the internet and companies where people are allowed to post to the internet, as the internet is the new 'town square'.

 @9V73FH2Progressive from Colorado  answered…4mos4MO

I think we don’t need more regulations in social media because poeple need to understand that other political views are out there

 @9V7377Y from Texas  answered…4mos4MO

social media regulation should be made to an extent as in like keep people from posting evil bad things.

 @9V6Z5V7 from Massachusetts  answered…4mos4MO

I believe the government (with the input of the people) should create a system of regulation for all social media apps.

 @9V6YD6H from Texas  answered…4mos4MO

No, freedom of speech include ALL speech, offensive included, if someone is being offensive let the social consequences deal with them not legal.

 @9V6XYQKWomen’s Equality from California  answered…4mos4MO

I dont think that social media regulation need to be handled by the goverment

 @9V6XY26 from Nebraska  answered…4mos4MO

Social media should let people share their opinions but take down offensive content

 @9V6XNZF from Massachusetts  answered…4mos4MO

Maybe they could flag or send little warnings regarding certain posts. The government could come up with a moderation system (with input of people) that all the apps could adopt.

 @9V5M4QW from Kansas  answered…4mos4MO

People should have their own opinion. If it is regulated too much then we lose our freedom of speech. Kids should be kept to a limited amount of offensive talk and at certain age they should not even be allowed to have social media or technology.

 @9V6WRW4Democrat from California  answered…4mos4MO

Social media should be not regulated by the government and only be regulated by the company themselves.

 @9V6W95S from California  answered…4mos4MO

Society should handle it. It should be unfiltered unless someone or a group of people are being threatened.

 @9V6V29F from Alabama  answered…4mos4MO

 @9V6MWPV  from New York  answered…4mos4MO

 @9V6MMKMIndependent from Colorado  answered…4mos4MO

Screen it without removing posts. You have the right to free speech and ideas, but that doesn’t mean people want to see it

 @9V6MC44 from California  answered…4mos4MO

Social Media companies do not need to regulate offensive content, people who see it can decide how they want to respond to it.

 @9V6M3QFanswered…4mos4MO

Well social media was created for people with similar views to unite, just let those Uneducated people talk to the other people with lacking education.

 @9V6LYJF from Florida  answered…4mos4MO

We can’t control the media only ourselves, so if you dont like maybe we should just get off the media

 @9V6LC6V from Indiana  answered…4mos4MO

I think it should try to filter some of the more offensive content based on who is viewing it, despite its legality

 @9V6GS6BTaxpayers from Indiana  answered…4mos4MO

I think minor offensive content is fine but any majorly offensive is not ok and should be banned.

 @9V6DV6Y from Michigan  answered…4mos4MO

 @9V6DJSTPeace and Freedom from North Carolina  answered…4mos4MO

 @9V6CPKW from Texas  answered…4mos4MO

I have a great idea about social media regulation. Eliminate it! I was raised when all we had were TV commercials, a house phone, a pay phone, and Saturday morning cartoons. Times were different….and better. Now people live out their wildest dreams and fantasies recklessly and it is causing a new crop of people to rise up. People who have a daily mission to go viral, capture everything on camera, live for likes, views, shares, subscribes, follows, and imaginary friends. Their appetite for attention is insatiable so they go further and further in their pursuits, and unfortunately it ends up being crude, crass, offensive, and even illegal. Regulation is novel but not logical. Throw the whole system away.

 @9V66MRF from Virginia  answered…4mos4MO

Although it might be offensive it's not illegal so legally there can't be any action taken

 @9V66R5Panswered…4mos4MO

Views that express racism, sexism, and other views of hate toward protected classed should be removed.

 @9V66JQP from North Carolina  answered…4mos4MO

Nothing, along as long as it is not impending on rights like defamation or being harassed. Freedom of speech lets you speak your mind censoring it is not good.

 @9V65JJB from Hawaii  answered…4mos4MO

Protection against sexual content especially towards seemingly teenagers because it's not smth that needs to be seen by anyone except for when they specifically go to sites to see that stuff.

 @9V5VX8Z from Iowa  answered…4mos4MO

Transparent algorithms viewable to regulators and the public, but otherwise flag contact without removing

 @9V5X4PJ from Washington  answered…4mos4MO

It shouldn't, but it will. No one in the government will ever cancel media regulation.

 @9V5V2G7 from Georgia  answered…4mos4MO

Social media should not be required to restrict offensive content that is not illegal. However, social media sites have their own guidelines on what content is unacceptable.

 @9V53JT4Democrat from Wisconsin  answered…4mos4MO

 @9V4B4X2 from South Carolina  answered…4mos4MO

each platform should have the right to handle legal offensive content how it chooses

 @9V4GC2XDemocrat from California  answered…4mos4MO

Should be banned as misinformation lies are still lies, we shouldn’t let our children be fed lies and misinformation, offensive posts can also deter one’s self being.

 @9V3HZQ6Republican from California  answered…4mos4MO

They should flag the content if the person is in an area that has large population against that type of content

 @9V2648F from Nevada  answered…4mos4MO

 @9V2574B from Delaware  answered…4mos4MO

Considering the sheer amount of offensive content on social media, I'm not sure if there is anything that can be done. At this point, most people go onto these apps expecting to close it out offended. While we can try adding certain features to choose what you don't want to see on these apps using a post's tags or hashtags, there isn't much to do.

 @9TZ7YVW from Illinois  answered…4mos4MO

They’re should be heavier regulation on these sites to ensure that this activity doesn’t happen as often.

 @9TZ7LFB from Tennessee  answered…4mos4MO

Let the company or application owners penalize users who violate this as they feel necessary.

 @9TZ7J23 from Tennessee  answered…4mos4MO

Handling offensive but not illegal content on social media while respecting diverse global views requires a nuanced and multi-faceted approach. Here are some key strategies that social media platforms can employ:
* Clear and Transparent Content Policies:
* Platforms should establish clear guidelines defining what constitutes offensive content, outlining different categories such as hate speech, harassment, bullying, and misinformation.
* These policies should be transparently communicated to users, readily accessible, and translated into multiple languages to accommodate diverse user bases…  Read more

Social media platforms face the challenge of balancing free expression with the need to maintain a respectful environment, especially given the diverse cultural and global perspectives. A potential approach is to implement transparent community guidelines that are consistent yet adaptable to different cultural contexts. Platforms should prioritize user empowerment tools, like content filters, blocking options, and personalized feed controls, allowing individuals to tailor their online experience. Instead of heavy-handed censorship, platforms could employ warning labels, content advisories,…  Read more

 @9V5VTL6Republican from Ohio  answered…4mos4MO

It should be allowed. There should be freedom for everyone to speak their mind.

 @9V58LGNWomen’s Equality  from Michigan  answered…4mos4MO

Because we have the freedom of speech, I think it should be allowed, but limited so children won't be able to have access to it, and people are able to block or make it so offensive content can't be seen.

 @9V53R8W from Florida  answered…4mos4MO

They should disallow it since many people just like to promote things like racism.

 @9V59QZF from Missouri  answered…4mos4MO

I feel social media should let people post what they would like. If they aren't doing something illegal then why do something about it. If it bothers you simply don't watch it. I mean you can look at it like this: "I'm sorry I annoyed you on MY page posting how I FEEL." We should have the freedom of speech we are promised and sometimes that involves saying something that just isn't popular. If somebody is coming after another person for something they didn't do I feel they should be reported and the case should be investigated, but if somebody just simply doesn't agree with the views of somebody else they should just let it be. People try to shove too much down each others throats to often.

 @9V3CMHHRepublican from Kansas  answered…4mos4MO

I don't that some content should be removed from social media, as long as it is educational, but if something is highly inappropriate then it should be removed from that site.

 @9V5SXF5 from Utah  answered…4mos4MO

Nothing. If people choose to be offended they can get off social media. People being overly aggressive and rude are bullies, and I support the mindset of ignoring them or "kill them with kindness" before resulting to other methods that may further exacerbate the situation.

 @9V5PC44 from Colorado  answered…4mos4MO

They should handle it like instagram is, by permanently suspending the accounts responsible.

 @9V5C5JR from North Carolina  answered…4mos4MO

They should not be able to talk about this stuff in ways like this because it can be rude to som people.

 @9V5B89P from Pennsylvania  answered…4mos4MO

I believe that regulation of social media should be light, as it is the freedom of speech. Offensive content should be monitored and be an option for people to see, as some might be more sensitive to the offensive content, while others are less.
