What kind of world would we live in if we prioritized kindness over wealth?

 @9K96FLVIndependent from Florida  answered…9mos9MO

Socialism is terrible. kindness is always important and should be considered over wealth

 @9K96HCM from Texas  answered…9mos9MO

 @9K97RCXfrom Maine  answered…9mos9MO

By prioritising kindness, the poorest and worse off (i.e. the people most in need of help) would receive the most care out of anyone, and those at the top would not. As such, wealth would balance and overall the planet would be a kinder, more equal place.

How might a focus on empathy and understanding alter the way we view those in different economic circumstances than our own?

 @9KCM9GS from Virginia  answered…9mos9MO

That is why we should allow charitable deductions
Church's should have local outreach programs to help with this issue.

 @9KCLSCN from Florida  answered…9mos9MO

People might understand the idea more if they apply empathy and understanding to their thinking.

 @9KCLLFKIndependent from California  answered…9mos9MO

People would be concerned with others and not ourselves, bettering the economy

Do you believe that achieving a high level of personal financial success is a sign of divine favor?

 @9JNXPPL from Texas  answered…10mos10MO

 @9JNXM9H from Texas  answered…10mos10MO

No, just because you have money, and are wealthy doesn't mean it's a sign og favor, Just means you worked hard, money doesn't matter when it comes to "divine favor"

 @9JNXSGHDemocrat from Colorado  answered…10mos10MO

No not at all. I don't think that God favors people over other people. He has a plan for you and wants you to be successful but sometimes that's not in His will.

How have you seen Christian teachings influence decisions in the workplace or marketplace?

 @9HJ23NF from Pennsylvania  answered…12mos12MO

Socialism is not a christian theory, because it always falls into tyranny. Christians believe in charity.

 @9HHCZ6D  from Texas  answered…12mos12MO

I have seen political Christians make oppressive decisions in the workplace and market place

 @9HJFRKW from California  answered…12mos12MO

Unfortunately not so much any more because of the push of secularism and attacks on Christianity as a whole

What lessons from scripture do you think are most pertinent to addressing today’s economic disparities?

 @9HGGN8XRepublican from Washington  answered…12mos12MO

An easy quote that many have used is John 3:16, which loosely states that those who believe in him will be saved. It's that simple. Our time here is big, but our time with him is bigger. Economic disparities of our day are challenges we must overcome, but also uplift God and his message while doing that.

 @9HGGXLL from Oregon  answered…12mos12MO

Most likely the messages of love and anti-violence. The bible was very useful on setting social guidelines, and that could be useful now.

 @9HGHGFF from Utah  answered…12mos12MO

Jesus taught to help those who are less fortunate. He understood that some are better off than others and even in socialism, there would be those who rise above others.

 @9HGHW2B from Oregon  answered…12mos12MO

I do not think todays economic disparities should be influenced by religion.

 @ISIDEWITHasked…1yr1Y

Should religious leaders be more vocal about economic systems, or is that beyond their spiritual mandate?

 @9HF8BG7 from Oregon  answered…12mos12MO

 @9HF8D9K from Idaho  answered…12mos12MO

No state and religion should be separated they have a different reason for being in that religion.

 @9HF8BNGfrom Montana  answered…12mos12MO

Seperate relogion from state, however, religion should apply to all aspects of human life in its teachings.

 @9HF7YPH from Utah  answered…12mos12MO

I believe that religious leaders should speak out on whatever they seem necessary more or less as long as they are respectful of other views

If wealth were to be distributed according to Christian values, how do you think society would change?

 @9HKBQ4YConstitution from Pennsylvania  answered…12mos12MO

I think people would view the government as more of a theocracy, and I don't think people would be very accepting of that.

 @9HHCGQ4 from Missouri  answered…12mos12MO

I don't think they would like it all the way, and there would be more drama, cases etc. People won't think its fair to one another cause they are working for something the others aren't.

 @9HHBCVC from Alabama  answered…12mos12MO

Well, I think society would view the government as increasing theocratic views, and if it was only to be distributed based on Christian values, it may not work out, idk.

 @ISIDEWITHasked…1yr1Y

How do you reconcile the pursuit of wealth with the biblical teaching of serving others?

 @9H7MM6T from Texas  answered…1yr1Y

I feel like most people are greedy and take things for granted like gifts, money, college, etc. Those who are greedy don't succeed in life or aren't very religious.

 @9H7MD7K from Illinois  answered…1yr1Y

 @ISIDEWITHasked…1yr1Y

How would the early Christians view our modern economic system?

 @9H5F8XT from Utah  answered…1yr1Y

 @9H5FZSKDemocrat from Utah  answered…1yr1Y

I feel they wouldn't agree, as it's been shown in multiple stories of government (or monarchy for that matter) of people trying to silence religion. They wanted to practice in peace, and I feel like the idea of a religion controlling the government wouldn't make them too happy, even if it was their own.

In what ways might capitalism clash with Christian ethics?

 @9H5JS4QLibertarian from Utah  answered…1yr1Y

Exploitation of workers as seen during America's Guilded Age. Workers should be given a safe working environment.

 @9H54PWG from Indiana  answered…1yr1Y

In every way. Bringing church into state creates conflicts between the beliefs of those who believe and those who do not

 @9H54FVC from Texas  answered…1yr1Y

Capitalism has a bad habit of wage redistribution which leads to classism. Christianity on the other hand says we are all children of God. Thus class and worth are not determined by man, and Christians are asked to see Christ in everyone. So they can go together, Christianity and Capitalism, but not when capitalism has decreased to an oligarchy capitalism, they no longer line up. However, I am not sure Christian Socialism is actually a thing but other than an Idea. As most of the Socialist countries are anti-religious or multi-religious.
I don't believe that Christianity at its core…  Read more

What do you believe is the responsibility of those with wealth towards those without?

 @9HXVT3PDemocrat from South Carolina  answered…11mos11MO

Those with wealth should be required to give their wealth in the form of taxes, backed by evidence that this would benefit the economy. The reasoning for taxation shouldn't be rooted in a single religion.

What biblical stories or teachings inspire you to think differently about wealth and poverty?

 @9HXV8DYCA Common Sense from Oklahoma  answered…11mos11MO

The fact that Jesus was not a rich man but still prosperous because he mad god the center of his living. I think what we can all take apart from this is that no matter weather you are wealthy or not what does it matter? Are you right with god? And if so are we helping those around us find that same light?

I Feel like our purpose as the human race is to improve in every aspect but more importantly, to improve as individuals in the sense that we should always be looking to help someone in any c that you can capacity you can while moving with God.

 @9HXTVNT from Illinois  answered…11mos11MO

Have you witnessed or can you imagine a business model that aligns with both Christian values and sustainable economic growth?

 @9HVXWRL from Pennsylvania  answered…11mos11MO

Yes, Christianity is not a bad thing and should not be treated as one. People should be allowed to believe in what they want religiously and not be punished for it.

  @9CJ6CB6 from Virginia  commented…11mos11MO

Yes, but when it is the basis upon which legislation is done, or established in a way that violates separation of church and state, then I have some concerns. The socialism and Christianity should be separate labels smushed together to describe the values, not the basis, of the country.

 @8WVQD36Progressive  from Texas  answered…11mos11MO

Modern capitalism is largely at odds with the values that were espoused by Jesus Christ.

How do you think your community would change if everyone adopted a more giving mindset?

Embracing this type of mindset could lead to transformative changes in our communities, fostering greater equity, solidarity, and compassion. It would create a more inclusive and humane society where everyone has the opportunity to thrive and contribute to the common good.

 @9KBYM74 from Florida  answered…9mos9MO

I think if we came together as a community, things would be a lot better for a lot of people. It has to start at the grassroots level.

 @ISIDEWITHasked…11mos11MO

 @9LGWMCG from Arizona  answered…8mos8MO

Christian Socialism can align itself with Christian values however this DQ post has a clear bias against capitalism. Capitalism allows individuals who have resources to solve issues or provide services with others. There are ways capitalism can fit in with the Christian worldview but it involves not conforming to the deadly sins such as gluttony for money, helping the less fortunate with profits made by the business, etc.

Although I don't believe faith should have anything to do with treating each other with fairness I do agree with the concept, as I said faith doesn't really have to be a factor one could just go out and make food for a bunch of homeless people just because of the simple fact the they are human too and have as much of a right to eat as those who are more fortunate.
