Do you support President Obama’s move to lift the trade and travel embargo on Cuba?

The United States embargo against Cuba prevents American businesses from conducting trade with Cuban interests. In December 2014 President Obama ordered the restoration of full democratic relations with Cuba. The order lifted a 54-year-old trade embargo and eased restrictions on banking and American’s travel to the country. When President Trump took office in 2017 his administration re-imposed the U.S. travel ban, citing Cuba poor record with human rights. Yes, and it should have been done years ago. We should have had a McDonalds in Havana the day after the Russians cut off foreign aid to them. There is no argument for not doing so...if we can overlook the human rights violations of China, our largest trading partner, we can do so with Cuba. Cuba represents a new market for American products and services, which is good for our economy. Further isolationism will gain nothing (how's that working out with North Korea?).

Cuba is a communist nation in the Caribbean, which has been hostile United States for a long time. To trade restrictions with Cuba and to allow Cubans into United and vice versa, is definitely a step in the right direction of ending hostilities and reconciling with Cuba. But it must be a primary effort on the federal government to transition Cuba from being a country with a communist government and economy to being a country that resembles our own, a capitalist, republic, with its own unique culture, and customs. Cubans must be allowed to be as they wish to be, but we must encourage them to embrace our Republican form of government and our capitalist economy, and in order to do this, we must show it to them that they will prosper more under these two functions than they would ever under communism.

That is because Obama is stupid. Cuba did their own thing and wanted to be on their own. Let them suffer and fail until they realize they need us and decide to become part of the USA as a state. In turn, we can enforce the same laws and so forth over there as here and build a base there.

A man is being held for questioning in connection with last week’s killing of a health insurance executive in Midtown Manhattan, the police said.The man being questioned was identified as Luigi Mangione, 26, the police commissioner, Jessica Tisch, said at a news briefing. Israel Sinks Syria's Navy

Israel said Tuesday that it had destroyed Syria’s navy in overnight airstrikes, as it continued to pound targets in Syria despite warnings that its operations there could ignite new conflict and jeopardize the transition of power to an interim government.Israel’s defense minister, Israel Katz, said that the Israeli military had “destroyed Syria’s navy overnight, and with great success.” His remarks appeared to confirm Israel’s responsibility for the destruction documented in the Syrian port city of Latakia, where photos showed the smoldering remains of ships sunk at their dock.Mr. Katz said that Israel’s military “has been operating in Syria in recent days to hit and destroy strategic capabilities that pose a threat to Israel,” although he did not indicate what new or immediate risk Syria’s navy presented to Israel, which has the most powerful military in the Middle East.Israeli warplanes have conducted hundreds of strikes in Syria since the fall of President Bashar al-Assad on Sunday, according to war monitors.
