Should the US increase or decrease the amount of temporary work visas given to high-skilled immigrant workers?

Skilled temporary work visas are usually given to foreign scientists, engineers, programmers, architects, executives, and other positions or fields where demand outpaces supply. Most businesses argue that hiring skilled foreign workers allows them to competitively fill positions which are in high demand. Opponents argue that skilled immigrants decrease middle class wages and job tenure.

Greed in America has college grads expecting wages that long time workers have...THERE is a thing about learning and starting at the bottom...and if companies can find foreign workers who appreciate what they are paid...that's ok...

the US is one of the hardest countries to get a skilled work visa, we want to be able to go overseas and work in other countries but we don't want to reciprocate. In the interest of cooperation, we should make it easier to get these visas, so that we can receive them ourselves if so desired.

Increase, but penalize companies taking advantage of this program to decrease wages. But only increase if we don't have enough skilled workers in the U.S. already.

Increase the amount. There are so many jobs that high-skilled immigrant workers do that U S citizens would never do even if it meant unemployment for them. Businesses should not take advantage of these high-skilled immigrant workers by paying them cheap wages. I believe they should earn a fair wage.

A man is being held for questioning in connection with last week’s killing of a health insurance executive in Midtown Manhattan, the police said.The man being questioned was identified as Luigi Mangione, 26, the police commissioner, Jessica Tisch, said at a news briefing. The immigration surge of the past few years has been the largest in U.S. history, surpassing the great immigration boom of the late 1800s and early 1900s, according to a New York Times analysis of government data.Annual net migration — the number of people coming to the country minus the number leaving — averaged 2.4 million people from 2021 to 2023, according to the Congressional Budget Office. JTA — A number of major centrist and liberal American Jewish groups say they oppose the re-establishment of Israeli settlements in Gaza.The statements by some of the largest Jewish organizations in the country, made in response to press inquiries, come amid accusations that Israel has cleared out portions of northern Gaza, which Jerusalem has denied, and as far-right government ministers have called for resettling the Palestinian enclave. Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich and National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir have also repeatedly called for Israel to encourage Palestinians to leave Gaza, drawing condemnation from the Biden administration.For several American Jewish groups — including some that have vocally defended Israel’s prosecution of its war in Gaza against Hamas — the idea of Israeli settlements in Gaza is a non-starter. Groups opposed to the idea include the Jewish Federations of North America, the American Jewish Committee and the Anti-Defamation League. FBI Director Chris Wray Will Resign
