Declaring a national emergency at the Mexico border would grant the government special powers to address issues such as illegal immigration, drug trafficking, or border security. Proponents argue that a national emergency is necessary to rapidly allocate resources, strengthen border enforcement, and protect national security. Opponents argue that such a declaration could be an overreach of executive power, misrepresent the scale of the problem, and divert attention and resources from more effective, long-term solutions.

The illegal immigration crisis at the border is threatening our nation and its borders. If we continue to not do anything about it, pretty soon the US will have no borders and no longer be an independent country and will be a part of Mexico. It is like if Russians invaded our country, if we would declare a national emergency for Russians, why not for Mexicans and other Latin Americans?
@B2S3S2VRepublican3mos3MO
It was in a state on national emergency a year or so ago, we should just do better to enforce our current border policies.
@ThegoodHillbilly2mos2MO
They are also stealing government benefits from citizens. We paid for those services with out hard earned tax money, just so some lazy scums can use it via government aid? Not only that, but there are many homeless citizens in the US who could really use the aid, why are we prioritizing illegals over our own citizens?
@B2GN2JC3mos3MO
I think it's not bad enough to warrant a "national emergency" but we should continue to enforce or possibly reform our policies
@7VWDCJ5Independent 2wks2W
There is NO National Emergency! The adoption of a "Border Emergency" is a political and media creation. The Vast majority of Illegal immigrants to the US do NOT come by crossing our Southern or Norther Borders.
@7VWDCJ5Independent 3mos3MO
There are currently 13+ Million Illegal Aliens in the US as of 2023, of which 8 Million came across the US / Mexico Border. The majority of individuals in the US without proper documentation ( Illegal Aliens ) didn't cross the Mexican border, they come the United States "legally", and then don't leave.
The only real way to end illegal immigration is to stop wielding our military and economic power to make these nations poorer. They will stay if they can have a high quality of life in their home countries.
@ISIDEWITH3mos3MO
No
America spends billions funding rightists that keep American corporations in power in foreign countries, while we don't have to help these people it is our moral
@B2M25LJProgressive 3mos3MO
Basically, by simply building and repairing the borders and increasing the number of border patrol agents, the situation can easily be remedied and there would be largely no need for the emergency declaration.
@TheHillbillyLordRepublican3mos3MO
The illegal immigration crisis has gotten way out of hand, we need to declare a national emergency now to urge immediate action to be taken to deport the illegals and prevent further illegal immigration
@TheHillbillyLordRepublican 3mos3MO
Yes, the illegal immigration crisis is threatening our country and its borders. We need to declare a national emergency and urge immediate action to deport all the illegals and stop any further illegal border crossing into our country. The Latin Americans and Hispanics are bring their poverty and other problems to us.
@TrumpLoyalist21Republican 3mos3MO
Yes,this nation is being invaded and in just a few more decades we could become a third world country if we don’t fix it now
@B2K9QQ53mos3MO
No, we’re not at war. Illegal Immigration would probably slow down if the process to become a citizen in the U.S. didn’t take so long. Drugs are everywhere in the U.S. and don’t just come from Mexico. Also if people want to take drugs and potentially kills themselves, that’s on them as long as it’s not forced on anyone.
@B42N2KP1mo1MO
Yes, and we should use military force against the cartels and any Mexican forces that do not comply.
@B3534WX2mos2MO
Yes, but only if we focus on working with the Mexican government to take down the cartels and other malevolent actors both in Mexico and Central and South America.
@B32H2TG3mos3MO
The one's that are committing crimes should be sent back, but the other one's don't deserve to be deported.
@B2WFWZF3mos3MO
Yes, the government's only duty is to protect it's citizens. Border security is national security. If random people can just hop across the border, what would stop our adversaries from sending spies across the border?
@9992HTR 3mos3MO
No, the USA should open up its borders and let in more immigrants. Diversity and compassion are a strength.
@B2YLFK93mos3MO
Not necessarily, I feel like we need to be more worried and focused on the illegal immigrants who are criminals and are hurting our nation.
@B2WMTV83mos3MO
Only when the time arrives, and by that I mean when actual criminal immigrants are entering the country
@B4WSN3P1wk1W
It depends on if illegal aliens are smuggling drugs and/or other illegal substances and weapons into the country.
@B4QZNN8Independent2wks2W
No, there would be no national emergency if we ended the War on Drugs, fixed the asylum system, and created a simple path to citizenship.
@B4M7WBQ3wks3W
People can work to get here. I heard about illegal immigrants being let in because Biden removed the border. People shouldn't be let in without a proper background check.
@86ZDHQ7Independent 3wks3W
Yes, because that allows our military to go down there and stop the illicit flow of guns, drugs and people into America
@B4LJPL63wks3W
This was initiated by the Drug War that the CIA started and funded, so this would be an internal problem
@B4FK79K4wks4W
No, the US should declare a International public health emergency and treat this issue from a humanitarian perspective.
@B3QM2V92mos2MO
Yes becsuse kids are being trafficked across that open border and that's the most important thing tonme
@B3DH8M42mos2MO
We should have mexico patrol its own border instead of the united states. it is their problem not ours
@B49Z79P1mo1MO
we should make a North America version of InterPol with US, Canada, and Mexico. This would allow jurisdiction of officers to cross the international boarders to track, investigate, and arrest those trafficking drugs and humans across boarders.
@B484QLZ1mo1MO
yes and deal with people respectfully and make sure to identify problems with immigration process and make it easier and accessable
@B3VHKSP2mos2MO
This issue has always been an issue. I just think that during the last four years it got to a point that it affected our economy very drastically. Because of the amount of money and help we were an aid we were giving. I think this issue will always be an issue.
@B3T4MRNIndependent2mos2MO
Really depends on how bad the situation at the border really is and what the US and Mexico and both doing to prevent the border crossings.
@B3GZQ4R2mos2MO
No, I do not think a national emergency at the Mexico border is necessary, but if it were to happen, I would suggest a national emergency at the Canada border as well.
@B3GZ7M82mos2MO
Yes so that we can check those who are coming to American and what the reasoning for them to come here with some kind of paperwork backing their reason
@B3FLRD7Independent2mos2MO
No, because the Americans do nothing to stop the illegal sale of weapons to Mexico, it's a stupid question.
@B3DHLX92mos2MO
Yes, because it would allow innocent people to enter the country and not face the hassle of then trying to prove their innocence. Meanwhile, anybody with ill-intentions could be kept out from the start.
@B3267993mos3MO
they should hold e very Mexican at the boarder until the population in America settles down to a number that allows a decent amount of yearly Mexicans.
@B2PMTB43mos3MO
The emergency isn't "National", but it should be allowed for individual cities to declare an emergency if they are overwhelmed with unlimited numbers of immigrants. If a local or state level request comes in for an emergency, declare it.
@B2L3JNW3mos3MO
Focus on systems that would make it easier for honest immigrants to reach us, and run heavy checks for drug trafficking. Secure borders from cartels and drug rings, while also assisting people who are possibly in critical situations in the border with heavy eye.
@B2KMPW23mos3MO
At the moment, Mexico is not the main way immigrants are coming into the country. Biden allowed for immigrants to come in through Venezuela, hence why there are a lot of issues specifically with immigrants in the country. There should be control at the Mexico border, but it should not be the primary concern.
@B2KK2FH3mos3MO
it depends on how bad it is. Because many of these immigrate are here for a better life that can be looking for a job. Or making sure there kids have a better life then what they did.
@B2KGWC23mos3MO
I strongly believe that in a way they should to not allow cirminals in the country. Meaning those that are doing drugs , kidnpaping, etc.
if they're here for drug or human trafficking then yes but if they're coming here to have a better life then no there shouldn't declare a national emergency,
@B2KCPD6Independent3mos3MO
Secure our borders and remove criminals only. Set up a path for citizenship for anyone wanting to enter the right way.
@B2K62K5 3mos3MO
Yes, but to bring support services to those from mexico, central and south america that are seeking refuge.
We should not fully close the border but thoroughly inspect everything coming into and leaving the country.
@B2K4DXXIndependent3mos3MO
No, but there should be more opportunities for people who are truly in need of asylum. Opportunities that are easier to reach and more available.
@B2K369H3mos3MO
Yes. But, there are more issues than those described above. Such as kidnaping, sex trafficking, and more.
@B2K298XWomen’s Equality3mos3MO
They should only if Mexico is making a fuse of sorts. If not, the US should be helping people from Mexico.
@B2JZS873mos3MO
The problem at the border is often over simplified, there is no half and half, immigrants are criminals legals aren't, not all immigrants are "alien" drug dealers, and not all citizens natural or not are perfect outstanding Americans.
@B2JWSHXIndependent3mos3MO
I believe that if they are taking every immigrant in sight then NO. These "illegal Immigrants" aren't all a problem.
@B2JTZ8X3mos3MO
only they let people who do not drug trafficking, or border security. just people who want to go American for their children that want them to have a good life.
@B2JSQ263mos3MO
Suppose they do declare an emergency at the border. In that case, they need to actually be worried about drug trafficking and illegal immigration and not discriminate the people who want to come to America and to give them a chance, and not racially profile them.
No. We don't need federal troops at the border. We need better technology, more immigration judges, and more CBP personnel, all included in the legislation Trump stopped from passing in a bi-partisan bill under Biden.
@B2Q9CDP3mos3MO
I feel like that there needs to be more background checks for security reasons but instead of attacking or rebelling against the government people should make suggestions about this issue peacefully.
@B2KVW8QIndependent3mos3MO
No one is illegal in a country that was built on stolen land. For things such as drug trafficking and even human trafficking of course, do what you have to. However, this is a land of opportunities and everyone deserves a chance at a great life.
@B2KP4T93mos3MO
We should be able to hold our border but we could just fix the proccess to become an american citzen
@B2KM8VN3mos3MO
yes and no, i believe that if the us were to declare a national emergency it would case mass panic within the nation and cause more divide and prejudice towards Mexican populations in and outside of America.
@B2KL6WL3mos3MO
No, I do not think they should declare a national emergency at the Southern border, however, I do belive we must increase background checks and increase more workers, especially on checking if people are seeking asslyum legally and higher security checks to ensure less illegal substances are brought in, but I would not go as far as declare it a national emergency.
@B2LPXZ53mos3MO
i believe the amount of people entering illegally is insane but the amount of people who are trying to gain access legally is alot harder compared to people trying to get in illegally.
@B52SQBP 2 days2D
There should not be any national emergency at the Mexican border unless there is an actual emergency
