Not until we have a better understanding of AI and to not fall back in our military preparedness if needed.

 @9NLZLPXDemocrat from North Carolina answered…3 days3D

Experimentation in a safe environment is fine, but it shouldn’t be applied on a broader military scale until there is more research on potential impact and more regulations applied to account for ethical issues

 @9NJHPSZ  from Colorado answered…5 days5D

No, artificial intelligence should be developed more before it's used for something as important as defence.

 @9NHSV3SIndependent  from Nevada answered…5 days5D

Yes, but make sure there are checks and balances in place to prevent AI from making irrevocable mistakes

 @9NHRXVX from Texas answered…5 days5D

Not until there's a clear understanding of AI capability, followed by strict laws and regulations on it.

 @9NF9B4MRepublican from Iowa answered…7 days7D

No, and the United States should support an international agreement limiting the development of AI for military applications in other countries

 @7YS3KJPIndependent  from Arizona answered…1wk1W

Yes, but I think they should be very careful and consult / hire the right people to do this. Many things have gone wrong from people working with technologies they don't fully understand how specify or optimize.

  @LucidLibertarian  from Oregon answered…1wk1W

No, there are too many risks involved. When a human makes a mistake that harms or kills others, they can be held accountable for it. It is impossible to hold AI accountable for harmful or deadly mistakes.

 @9N9L4W9 from New York answered…1wk1W

Yes, provided this is used as a means of protecting the most critical aspects of the military infrastructure and has been vetted through several phases of development and trials.

 @9N92GYS from North Carolina answered…1wk1W

Yes, but only once AI is better understood and regulated to account for ethical risks and other potential unintended consequences

 @9N8629DIndependent from Maine answered…1wk1W

Yes, but with high levels of testing and insurances for ethically created AI that is free of human biases and hatred.

 @9N6WNH5 from Maryland answered…2wks2W

I agree to disagree because I feel as if AI can often be wrong. AI can be very beneficial but also cause many complications leading to larger problems than we began with.

 @9N589VHIndependentanswered…2wks2W

Yes, if humans are making final decisions for strategic decision-making. AI is likely already used in some capacity.

 @9MTZNC4 from North Carolina answered…2wks2W

Yes, but only if AI is first adequately regulated and its impact is fully understood to prevent potential misuse or unforeseen consequences

 @9MSTKDB from Illinois answered…2wks2W

Yes but needs testing for proof that it is more effective than humans as well as employed with unbiased/ethical considerations

 @9MRLRH2Republican from Wisconsin answered…2wks2W

it could be looked into but only it small amounts our defense system should remain mostly human run.

 @9MPNYMJ from Illinois answered…2wks2W

No, unless the company that develops the AI is thoroughly vetted for bias in the training data of its AI

 @9KWXHJM  from New York answered…3wks3W

 @9MN3J6G from California answered…3wks3W

AI should be used IF NEEDED, but the potential loss of human control is a fearful consequence.

 @9MN3HZG  from California answered…3wks3W

Yes, especially because other nations are likely to use AI to improve their defenses as well. However, to address potential loss of human control, it should be outlined more clearly what will be the purpose of AI and which jobs will be impacted.

 @9MMY27HWomen’s Equality  from California answered…3wks3W

No, AI has a chance to be hacked and altered by hackers which would not be really safe for the nation to put on the defense.

 @9K99V29  from Florida answered…3wks3W

Yes, but they shouldn't be tested in public nor should these defense applications have complete autonomy

 @9MMS9KT from Connecticut answered…3wks3W

 @9MMHBFP from Florida answered…3wks3W

depends on the reliability of the AI, and if that is the most feasible investment to make

 @SenBR2003 from New York answered…3wks3W

Yes, but AI must first be used in a pilot project to give a clearer idea how it may affect our military capabilities.

 @9MM99YL from Hawaii answered…3wks3W

First is important invest in cyber security and how viable it would be use IA

 @9MM7NMZ from Minnesota answered…3wks3W

I think it again would be good to incorperate ideas of an artificial intelligence program, but I don't think we should become to reliant because that c ould cause more problems.

 @9MM76Y5 from Wisconsin answered…3wks3W

 @9MM6MM3Democrat from California answered…3wks3W

No, artificial intelligence isn't completely accurate and it shouldn't be something that is relied on.

 @9MM6FRHConstitution from Illinois answered…3wks3W

 @9MM5PH4 from New Jersey answered…3wks3W

 @9MM585G from PR answered…3wks3W

We should invest in AI but we have to give access to people who actually want to better certain aspects of the world and not fall in the hands of corrupted people

 @9MM4BH6 from California answered…3wks3W

 @9MM2TC5 from California answered…3wks3W

I feel like it should be private companies that are doing the research, so that there will be more job openings in that field.

 @9MLZRDV from New York answered…3wks3W

Maybe, If its built for it it could be good but it could malfunction

 @9MLZQLY from Washington answered…3wks3W

Ai can be lethal, in terms of defense i support certain aspects but any control over said defense is uncomfortable.

 @9MLXJHR from North Carolina answered…3wks3W

It can be quite scary when AI comes in to play and if they start using AI for protection we won't need the military, air force, Navy, and etc. and they won't get paid for their services anymore/

 @9MLXGN8 from West Virginia answered…3wks3W

I think AI should be used for somethings. But not for all the defensive because if the enemy gets control of the AI they could use that to beat us.

 @9MLWF3GGreen from Texas answered…3wks3W

Yes, but the gov't should see to it that AI is still regulated so it doesn't get out of hand.

 @9MLVT8M from Pennsylvania answered…3wks3W

This is honestly not really a good idea because AI's can malfunction pretty quick

 @9MLSBMJ from North Carolina answered…3wks3W

No because it could lead into an unintentional take over and loss of jobs

 @8RBQDDPDemocrat  from Vermont answered…3wks3W

Yes, but with small steps to make sure it can be properly implemented safely

 @9MLK57NWomen’s Equality from Texas answered…3wks3W

 @9MLHLML from Iowa answered…3wks3W

Yes, but only for assessment purposes with final approval from human oversight.

 @9MLFT88 from Pennsylvania answered…3wks3W

 @9MLF5VJ from New Mexico answered…3wks3W

 @9J2LX9L  from Tennessee answered…3wks3W

 @9MLC36K from Texas answered…3wks3W

I don't think its time for that yet. Not till we have impenetrable net defense.

 @9ML8J6BProgressive from California answered…3wks3W

All military actions can “lead to unintended consequences in critical situations.” Is AI worse than the current methods? Maybe. Find the root causes of conflicts and as they say on “Sesame Street,” “use your words.” We see what violence as a go to solution has wrought. Look at Israel’s defense attacks on Gaza.

  @9ML4XBXLibertarian  from Louisiana answered…3wks3W

Yes, but I do not believe the USA should be the world's policeman. Our country needs to keep up with technology to maintain sovereignty.
