Christopher A. Wray, director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, warned on Wednesday that China was ramping up an extensive hacking operation geared at taking down the United States’ power grid, oil pipelines and water systems in the event of a conflict over Taiwan.
Mr. Wray, appearing before a House subcommittee on China, offered an alarming assessment of the Chinese Communist Party’s efforts. Its intent is to sow confusion, sap the United States’ will to fight and hamper the American military from deploying resources if the dispute over Taiwan, a major flashpoint between the two superpowers, escalates into a war, he added.
Before his testimony, F.B.I. and Justice Department officials revealed that last month, they had obtained a court order that authorized them to gain access to servers infiltrated by Volt Typhoon, a Beijing-directed hacking network that has targeted a range of critical infrastructure systems, often by infiltrating small businesses, contractors or local government networks.

China has been stealing our secrets for years. Remember when the consulate in Houston was raided a couple years ago and the Chinese burned everything in dumpsters in the backyard as we entered? Yet we let them continue to wage psychological warfare in so many ways - TikTok and election interference among them.
Sorry, but this is a funny comment. We didn't raid the consulate in Houston...we ordered it closed. Of course they would destroy documents rather than leave them behind, or have to truck away tons of files. We would do the exact same thing. Also Guo Wengui is Steve Bannon's good buddy, and was leading the Chinese election interference network, on behalf of Trump...so it was Biden vs Trump, with an assit from China and Russia.
How to lose a country, first slowly, then very quickly:
Our southern border is wide open. Our universities have become dependent on full tuition paying Chinese students- all are required by their government to report on what they have learned and what directions the U.S. is taking regarding hard and soft sciences, a soft form of spying. The same arrangement holds for Chinese nationals working in our private sector (defense contractors, A.I. R & D, biomedical, pharma, etc.).
Our government, universities and businesses and the general public receive ongoing warnings from the FBI and other intelligence gathering agencies, yet, not much, if anything is done to seriously stem the tide of theft by China, Inc..
Why do we let Chinese nationals study in American universities ? I have asked this question many times.
We have many American children who need an opportunity to attend an American university and then go onto graduate school and yet they are being pushed out by Chinese nationals. Why?
Who is optimizing on China within the U.S. ?
Why don't we develop a policy of a systemic economic disconnection from China? For 40 years we have had a trade deficit with China and yet we continue?
I think it is very dangerous and unsafe for this to be happening,it can be very threatening for a lot of people considering that it is targeting the U.S power grid

China has the second largest GDP behind us, and I'm concerned what China may do. This is an important topic to me because this is showing a threat to the US, something I am concerned/paranoid about.

Actual attempted attack on U.S. infrastructure from a foreign power
@9JL9GWR1yr1Y
its more intresting than anything.
@9JL7RG81yr1Y
If our infrastructure that’s already not well maintained suffers attacks by hackers, the people of the United States including children will suffer and this will cause panic in an already unstable and chaotic society.
@9JL6N961yr1Y
I think that this is a threat to America, and I think it is something America should fight to prevent.
@9JLCB8SIndependent1yr1Y
China should not be able to do this without consequences
