I don't really care as long as English is the dominant language

 @9JGP2L7 from Missouri  disagreed…1yr1Y

language is simply a way of communication. if you do not understand, you should strive to communicate in a more effective way. technology has made leaps and bounds in this. utilize it.

 @9JD4DKYSocialist from Oklahoma  disagreed…1yr1Y

The United States has no official language. We are not a melting pot but rather a celebration of differences in culture and language. To have the same language and force it on everyone is wrong.

 @9JCYLP3Democrat from North Carolina  disagreed…1yr1Y

Because even though I might not understand the language it's still important to be considerate of others and respectful because English may not be their primary language.

 @9JCYHHNSocialist from North Carolina  disagreed…1yr1Y

Having diverse populations allows for an optimal intermingling of cultures and ideas. No one language need be dominant.

 @25PCXTQConstitution answered…1yr1Y

Depends. In America, if it's a worker where I'm doing business/shopping, it's frustrating. If outside that scenario, or in another country - doesn't bother me in the least.

 @9J6PDLH from Georgia  disagreed…1yr1Y

In America, there is a freedom of not only speech but also an implied freedom to speak any language you would like to. The question does not imply whether or not the person speaking the other language is speaking directly to the person, so there is a likelihood that they can speak a little English. So, being bothered by simply hearing someone speak another language is inherently unnecessary.

 @9J5Y3VNDemocrat  from New York  disagreed…1yr1Y

people may not have the opportunity to learn another language and today we have technology to communicate with everyone.

 @9J5XPSF from Ohio  disagreed…1yr1Y

If they are communicating with another worker and speak English to you I don't understand being frustrated, they are probably frustrated they have to speak English to work but at the end of the day you only have that interaction once.

 @9J5XM9R from Illinois  disagreed…1yr1Y

This is America, the land of the free. Therefore, people have the freedom to speak the language they are most comfortable with.

 @9HVC6LLConstitutionanswered…1yr1Y

I don't care about not understanding. I can't make anyone speak the language I speak they come from different countries with different languages. There are hundreds of languages that we can not do to prevent them from speaking their language.

 @9HZGHRX from California  agreed…1yr1Y

the US should give the freedom for anyone to speak and learn different languages, the "United States" should be united no matter the language, race or religion.

 @9HZ3Z35 from Texas  agreed…1yr1Y

That is totally okay because we are all different with different childhoods, languages, lifestyles, and it's actually really cool to speak different languages.

 @9K7BWC7Libertarian from California  answered…1yr1Y

A nation is a collection of people with a shared history, heritage, and culture. Language is a key aspect of a shared national identity. I firmly believe the US should adopt English as its national language and require citizens to understand and speak English fluently enough to get by, but citizens should be free to be multilingual and speak whichever language they want with their friends, family, and others that speak the same language.

 @9K7VSX8Republican from California  disagreed…1yr1Y

America is not what it preaches of it forces its citizens to conform to one national language. Immigrants are already working to understand the language in order to get around and should t be pressured by the government. America was quite literally formed because white propel came over and took away another groups culture so they shouldn’t forcing people to hide the very thing that makes America so prominent in the world.

 @9K7TZ2KPeace and Freedom from Florida  agreed…1yr1Y

Estoy de acuerdo porque el idioma nativo es algo que se debería conservar de las dos partes de la cultura la americana y la de los in migrant

 @9K7TCRHfrom Maine  agreed…1yr1Y

Migration is of all times yet, citizen should have a Common language to communicate with each other, yet, other languages of migrants shouldn't je banned because that is the Common language they used to communicate while growing up.

 @9JXXMPQLibertarianfrom Maine  answered…1yr1Y

I wish that more people would put more effort in learning English as it's a universal language

 @9K3K675 from Kentucky  disagreed…1yr1Y

Yes, people should put in the effort to learn English , However it is not a universal language there are , Spanish, french, German and Japanese as well.

 @9JYW4VNWomen’s Equality from Virginia  disagreed…1yr1Y

There are other languages in this world and just because I don't want to learn their doesn't mean they have to learn mine.

 @9JYV4SM from New York  disagreed…1yr1Y

People have the right to speak their language among their friends and family from the same country no matter the circumstance. it's like telling someone not to breath and taking away their heritage.

 @9J95538Libertarian from New Hampshire  answered…1yr1Y

I'm OK with the use of languages I don't understand and I feel that all peoples no matter what language they speak should be welcome.

 @9JDFKR7 from Texas  disagreed…1yr1Y

English, being the language of commerce, should be learned by people who desire to live here permanently.

 @9JDF3VK from California  agreed…1yr1Y

I believe every language matters and while it is very important to learn the spoken language in your country, not everyone has the materials to do so.

 @9JC6VMNDemocrat from Oklahoma  agreed…1yr1Y

Why should we be scared of people who can't speak our language. At the core of them they are still human. They have the same problems and goals as us.

 @9HWF3SMLibertarian from Oregon  answered…1yr1Y

I do not care because I know that being multilingual is a normal thing.

 @9HXTJZT from Maryland  disagreed…1yr1Y

I don't really care I do get curious though, but I know the world is huge obviously someone is going to be speaking another language, so I don't care.

 @CurvyletterConstitution answered…1yr1Y

Learning and listening to new languages improves your brain's processing and general understanding of the world.

 @9PRWQTQ from Minnesota  agreed…10mos10MO

Languages are beautiful and it is Morgantown to let people hold onto their culture through language.

 @9LLWPVXLibertarian from Arkansas  answered…1yr1Y

I'm not offended by them. I think it is fine that people speak in other languages. But we all need to learn English. We are not a nations if we can't communicate with one another.

 @9LS6J6DSocialist from Louisiana  disagreed…1yr1Y

Not everyone can learn English as it may be to late for them since they are to old and they feel more comfortable in their own language.

 @9LS642NWomen’s Equality from Texas  agreed…1yr1Y

I agree because I speak Spanish and English but when I hear other languages, I feel different from not knowing it but we all can learn one day.

 @9KFRRZK from Texas  agreed…1yr1Y

My boyfriends family is from Mexico and hearing them speak Spanish is so beautiful, I am working on learning the language myself.

 @9KCY3MW from Nevada  agreed…1yr1Y

Anyone who doesn't have patience for those still learning English has no grasp of how difficult it is to pick up a new language later in life.

 @9HVJNLLConstitution from North Carolina  answered…1yr1Y

I want to learn more about language I don't understand, and I think it's wise to.

 @9J9RMSQConstitution from Massachusetts  answered…1yr1Y

I don’t mind hearing other languages spoken. I just don’t like when someone who speaks another language is trying to communicate with me and I can’t understand what they’re saying. It would be nice if English was taught as the primary language of America.

 @9JH27TR from Arizona  disagreed…1yr1Y

People express themselves with their language and their words and not liking it because someone has one different than yours is unfair,

 @9J96NBJLibertarian from Georgia  answered…1yr1Y

I don't have any issue with people around me speaking languages I don't understand - this happens sometimes even when they are speaking a certain dialect of English that I don't comprehend... Of course I will be curious and wonder what they might be talking about, but it has no impact on my daily life.

 @9J9DPKB from Indiana  agreed…1yr1Y

Just people going about their day. Just because they are speaking in a language I do not understand, does not mean they are plotting my demise.

 @Name-IrrelevantConstitution  from West Virginia  answered…1yr1Y

Confused, probably because I don't understand the language.

Curiosity is inherently a positive value in circumstances like this, as it will make the person more intelligent, talented and capable of engaging with more people.

I do not care what language they are speaking, why would I be listening to other peoples conversations, I like to mind my own damn business

 @9K5ZKVGLibertarian from Texas  answered…1yr1Y

Differences between cultures and people within the same country make it more difficult to form unity in times of disaster.

 @9K6PLZ9Progressive from North Carolina  disagreed…1yr1Y

Times of disaster are so few and far between. The lack of unity may only derive from negligence to educate people on the beauties and practices of cultures other than our own.

 @9J9DFBLLibertarian from Minnesota  answered…1yr1Y

 @9JWFWDYLibertarian from Florida  answered…1yr1Y

I'm opposed to any policy that segregates society. In order to move on from historical discrimination, everyone needs to be treated equally. No special rights. All American.

 @9JWN8GGWomen’s Equality from California  disagreed…1yr1Y

I feel that everyone should have the right to speak in their language and be grateful to embrace their own cultural and where they come from. A place like the United States shouldn't say you cant speak your own language.

 @9K6XMBKLibertarian from Utah  answered…1yr1Y

People can speak whatever language they want. English isn't even the native language to this continent. I don't feel anything when I hear people speak a language I don't understand because it's none of my business
