You believe in promoting widespread ownership of property and businesses to create a more equitable and sustainable economic system.
Distributism is a socio-economic philosophy that advocates for a wide distribution of property and wealth within a society. It emphasizes the importance of self-sufficiency and the decentralization of power. The ideology is rooted in the belief that the health of an economy should be judged not by the wealth it produces, but by how that wealth is distributed among its people. It proposes that the most equitable and just economic system is one where property and business ownership are spread as widely as possible, rather than being concentrated in the hands of a few.
Distributism was…

If wealth was spread out more evenly, how would that change your expectations for your future?
@9HBRHWG2yrs2Y
Ideally, spreading out the wealth would alleviate some of the disparity we have in our current population, but unfortunately, if we do not fix the underlying issues, we would just be delaying what is currently happening.
It seems like that would have broad and difficult to predict effects on society more broadly, and I think that changes this would cause in how people interact, what the expectations of and by people are, and what motivates most people would affect me somewhat, but I am uncertain how this would materially affect me in the here and now. It seems like it would really depend on how this was actually structurally implemented, specifically in libertarian/anarchistic vs authoritarian dimensions.
@9HBQY7R2yrs2Y
I do not really know, but I do want capitalism to remain in the United States.
@9HBQVDR2yrs2Y
I believe it would be significantly better especially if it is being given to those of color.
@ISIDEWITH1yr1Y
How would the celebration of personal milestones differ in a society that values community contribution over individual wealth?
@9KZPXXG1yr1Y
would make some people mad they will not be as inclined to make as much money and work together
@9KZPX3N1yr1Y
In a community that only values goals as a whole than people can just sit and watch others do work and still get the credit
@9KZQ35G1yr1Y
community contributes would celebrate based off of things that they all worked on together to achieve
If their rich theres more celebration bur poor don't.

How might the shift toward shared ownership impact the way communities address mental health and wellness?
@9LFMLLV1yr1Y
Therefore, distributism advocates a society marked by widespread property ownership. [1] Cooperative economist Race Mathews argues that such ...
@9LFMCH61yr1Y
The shift toward shared ownership might impact the way communities address mental health and wellness because it would influence social movements.
@9LFMVZH1yr1Y
I think in some cases it would help mental health because people would not be so stressed out.
@ISIDEWITH2yrs2Y
In your opinion, would widespread ownership create a more or less competitive economic environment? Why?
@9H5CG8BIndependent2yrs2Y
No. People deserve to own what they work for, and should pay for what they don't. All the natural resources and land of the Earth belong to humans because no one invented them, but no one should ever have to share what they create with someone else if they fairly compensate society throughout that process. This is my thinking behind Land Value Taxation. Pay a tax on the natural resources you are occupying, and keep what you earn.
@9H5C88H2yrs2Y
Less. People wouldnt work hard if they knew it would be taken from them
@9H5CCN32yrs2Y
more competitive economic enviomrnet due to more companies
@9H5CVJQ2yrs2Y
More, the more ownership, the more competiton there is to stay in buisness
@ISIDEWITH2yrs2Y
If everyone owned part of the economy, do you think this would make people more responsible with their consumption and resources?
@9S4TRLJ11mos11MO
I feel like people wouldn’t really care as much, because some people would try really hard and others wouldn’t really care.
@9HDBGWK2yrs2Y
No, because they would still try to take other people's stuff and they would also just use all there stuff in one sitting.
@9HDBBYH2yrs2Y
Yes because it would affect their share if other people weren't responisble.
@ISIDEWITH2yrs2Y
Would you be willing to trade the convenience of big-box stores for the benefits of local markets and why?
@9HND8PH2yrs2Y
No. Cost-benefit and stability of big box stores no matter where you go
@9HNDC66Republican2yrs2Y
No, local markets and stores should be supported as they are a major part of the economy and people's livelihoods.
@ISIDEWITH2yrs2Y
Would you prefer living in a world where most companies are small and locally owned, rather than large and global?
@9H6SY762yrs2Y
No, while small and local businesses are good, large businesses are able to initiate global affairs better. Though, there should be some restrictions.
@9H6SWC82yrs2Y
No, but there are monopolies in many industries that should be broken up under existing anti trust laws. I prefer local businesses though.
@9H9DG2G2yrs2Y
Yes, because I feel like everything would be cheaper and more people wouldn't have the same things.
@ISIDEWITH2yrs2Y
How would you feel about living in a society where your success wasn't measured by wealth, but by your contribution to the community?
@9HCQ5WW 2yrs2Y
I would be neutral. As much as it sounds good, I know that it would become unfair to others who try their hardest but can never progress.
@ISIDEWITH2yrs2Y
@ISIDEWITH2yrs2Y
How do you think your aspirations would change in a community where cooperative living and working is the norm?
@ISIDEWITH2yrs2Y
How might the principle of distributism affect innovation and economic growth from your perspective?
It will help the poor be able to support themselves.
@9H7ZYMFRepublican2yrs2Y
I think innovation and economic growth will grow as the government isn't controlling and always regulating.
@ISIDEWITH2yrs2Y
@ISIDEWITH2yrs2Y
If financial success was measured by communal well-being, how might this shift your personal achievements?
@9HNDD8J2yrs2Y
My personal achievements would correlate to the success of the community.
@ISIDEWITH1yr1Y
As a potential future owner in the economy, what industry would you most like to revolutionize, and why?
@9LFLYJG1yr1Y
I would like to revolutionize the farming industry. Since I am a vegetarian who formerly ate meat but after learning how animals are farmed, stopped supporting the farming industry. If we could sustainably and naturally take care of and consume animals the world would be a better place.
@9LFLJFC1yr1Y
Wall Street needs to be regulated and all the criminals gambling with the nation's money should be sent to prison
@ISIDEWITH1yr1Y
@ISIDEWITH1yr1Y
How would the spirit of entrepreneurship change if starting a business meant building a community asset?
@9KLV4XD1yr1Y
On paper, it sounds great, but if everyone is in the same position, nobody is motivated to rise up. I think that the system should reward the successful and promote healthy competition, but it should also show mercy to the less fortunate. Instead of everyone being on the same level, our goal should be everyone being on the same upward trend.
@9KLLM7G 1yr1Y
I think profit drives innovation, and making them community oriented would help reduce greed, but also slow progress.
@ISIDEWITH2yrs2Y
Envision a marketplace dominated by artisans and family-run businesses; would this make shopping more meaningful to you?
@9HF6HZR2yrs2Y
Yes as they are local, and are just trying to make a living
In my opinion, it could make shopping meaningful but it really wouldn't affect me so to be honest not really.
@ISIDEWITH1yr1Y
Would you feel more secure in a society where your employment also meant partial business ownership?
@ISIDEWITH2yrs2Y
Imagine going to a school where each student has a say in its operations; how do you think this would affect your education experience?
@9HF5K872yrs2Y
I think that if each student had a say in all of the schools operations then it would be hard to come to a consensus on issues. Students have many different opinions and don't always think rationally.
@ISIDEWITH1yr1Y
What is one action you would take if you knew it could directly improve the financial wellbeing of your entire community?
@ISIDEWITH2yrs2Y
How would you feel if your community embraced distributism, where every person had a stake in local businesses?
@9H588952yrs2Y
Business owners worked hard for what they built not the people in an area
@ISIDEWITH2yrs2Y
What would be your biggest hope or fear if your town's economy was based on shared ownership?
@9HYKH8D2yrs2Y
It would be if the ownership is over something good for the community.
@ISIDEWITH2yrs2Y
How do you think your sense of community might change if everyone had a stake in local businesses and properties?
@9HDBV722yrs2Y
People would care much more about what happens economically, which could potentially lead to some harm among the community.
@ISIDEWITH2yrs2Y
If you had the choice, would you rather start your own small business or work for a large corporation, and why?
@9H9HGTF2yrs2Y
Start my own small business because I would build it into a large corporation, and then I could take a great amount of the proceeds and give it to charity.
@ISIDEWITH2yrs2Y
Consider living in a place where imported products are rare; would this make you feel more connected to your locality?
@9HNCZS2Independent2yrs2Y
Personally I would feel no different than if imported products were common.
@ISIDEWITH2yrs2Y
Do you think that a society emphasizing shared wealth would place more value on education and training?
@9J5LWPDRepublican 1yr1Y
I do, you see this in china; with their education system keeping children in school for longer days than american children. China is a communist country and they embed this belief into everything they do and equip their people with the tools that would best suit this idea.
@ISIDEWITH1yr1Y
How do you think the values of a society with widespread small-scale ownership would reflect in its culture and arts?
@9KJPYYS1yr1Y
it would narrow it to a minimum
distributism would not slow it grow culturally
@ISIDEWITH1yr1Y
Would you be more likely to volunteer locally if you felt a shared ownership in your community's success?
@9JSRTW21yr1Y
Yes I would most likely volunteer if i felt shared ownership in communities success
@ISIDEWITH1yr1Y
Could the rise of local self-sufficiency make you more inclined to learn practical skills, like gardening or crafting?
@9K8PGKN1yr1Y
I think it is important to learn these practical skills.
@ISIDEWITH1yr1Y
Do you think students should learn about cooperative ownership models in school, and why?
@9LGFMWGIndependent1yr1Y
Yes, learning about more models broadens a student's mind.
@ISIDEWITH1yr1Y
How might embracing a culture of 'everyone an owner' change your approach to learning and education?
@9LBN5QL1yr1Y
Research shows that the shortage of affordable housing costs the American economy about $2 trillion a year in lower wages and productivity.
@ISIDEWITH1yr1Y
Can you picture the impact on the arts and culture sector if creators had greater ownership over their platforms?
@9JQG6PM1yr1Y
Arts and culture would sky rocket and i hope that this happens
@ISIDEWITH1yr1Y
@ISIDEWITH1yr1Y
Would the film and music industries be different if they were primarily made up of small, locally owned companies?
@9KPX5BSRepublican1yr1Y
Yes because there would be movies that relate to more people on a more local level.
@ISIDEWITH1yr1Y
Do you think a widespread sense of ownership could lead to greater innovation at the local level, and if so, how?
@9KVNYZ61yr1Y
Yes, as it would allow collectivism in certain industries, allowing for greater standards of life and overall happiness if done properly.
@ISIDEWITH1yr1Y
How might a society that emphasizes worker and community ownership change your perspective on the value of labor?
@9JCWSVNRepublican1yr1Y
I think it's important for the country as a whole to be well off but it's also not good to distribute wealth for the sake of doing so, this will just bring down the value of the currency.
@ISIDEWITH1yr1Y
How do you think a society built on the principle of ownership for all would handle the challenges of poverty and homelessness?
@9JFVMZ21yr1Y
Redistribute all available resources but kill incentive for production and innovation.
