Critical Race Theory is not what's being taught. CRT is a very specific focus for law students. What needs to be taught to our students is the ability to see beyond their own perspective (compassion) and how to recognize when they are being fed biased information (such as calling analysis of History "Critical Race Theory")

 @9949Z4DSocialist from Texas  answered…2yrs2Y

Critical race theory is a collegiate level subject and has never been taught to kids in lower education, though frankly inclusion in some high school courses would not hurt. The use of 'critical race theory' as a dog whistle by conservatives harkens back to Nazis fear mongering about the Frankfurt School.

 @B2PT957 from Texas  answered…1mo1MO

teaching complex subjects to kids at a young age can mess with their decision making once they have fully developed brains, so my opinion is that they should teach it right after elementary school, somewhere around the 6th-8th grade to where they can understand the subject material better.

 @9ZGW57SDemocrat from Texas  answered…4mos4MO

I feel as if no matter how hard we try there is always going to be some type of racism or hate against others, and even though this is an awful thing to experience. I feel as if we should explain to everyone no matter their race that they have a chance to achieve great things if they just try. We should try and instill this in the minds of the children as they are growing up as they are still absorbing knowledge like a sponge and are more likely to soak this information in. We also need to keep this stance as they grow through out their lives, and show future generations that no matter who you are or where you come from we are all the same no matter how we look.

 @9WL8K7Q from Texas  answered…5mos5MO

I think the history should be taught but not be made a huge ordeal. we need to raise humans, not groups of races.

 @9W7DZRN from Texas  answered…5mos5MO

Kids should be taught the full history of our nation regarding all people groups, they should be able to analyze CRT in discussions and make conclusions based on their own judgments b/c we all have biases, and there definitely are systems in place to reflect these biases b/c systems are made by people. I also believe students should be taught and educated on the root of these deep rooted problems so that we can work towards unity.

 @9VT94YF from Texas  answered…5mos5MO

yes, the term critical race theory is just a stigmatized name for a very real subject we already teach.

 @9VGRLR9 from Texas  answered…5mos5MO

Yes, but in rememrance of those who fought for their rights. Showing the strength humanity holds for change.

 @9TV5VG3 from Texas  answered…6mos6MO

Yes, but only in 11th/12th grade since this is when children also typically are taught about sexual education.

 @9TLF7LR from Texas  answered…6mos6MO

Yes, but not in a sense that all white people are still racist or put to get them, but that the institutions were created during a more racist time period and we are taking steps now to combat them.

 @9SFD9MV  from Texas  answered…7mos7MO

No, it should be taught as elective in high school that students can choose and be separated from normal history classes

 @9R3YXVCNo Labels from Texas  answered…8mos8MO

Yes, but not until they are teenagers, where we can better acknowledge that our institutions, laws, and history are inherently racist.

 @9QZRNSQ from Texas  answered…8mos8MO

I think students and teachers should know what CRT is, but teaching about the racism of the past and present is not the same as CRT.

 @9QVBXDX from Texas  answered…8mos8MO

the implementation of CRT should be slowly implemented in 11th and 12th grade and debated and refined over the course of the next 20 years in the latter years of high school before college and should be handled responsibly.

 @9PFZKWV from Texas  answered…9mos9MO

I think in 2nd or 3rd grade is when we can introduce it because in a way or another they are going to find out

 @9L8LKNV from Texas  answered…12mos12MO

Maybe not kids but maybe 5th-12th should learn it because any grade under 5th shouldn't learn that kind of stuff yet

 @9JB8CT6  from Texas  answered…1yr1Y

No, but K-12 education curriculum should inform children of the tragic events of our nations past revolving around racism.

 @9HMJNCZ from Texas  answered…1yr1Y

no they should be taught that is the past, and while there may be some it's not everywhere, we have still progressed as people

 @9GCSNY9 from Texas  answered…1yr1Y

Yes, but they should increase information in increments as they grow older from a young age so they can learn and understand how to be respectful and not develop hate

 @9G96HL3 from Texas  answered…1yr1Y

Racism should be discussed with kids, but it should include on how the nation has made it easier for people of color. But also inlcuding on how racism still occurs to this day.

 @9F8WZ7R from Texas  answered…2yrs2Y

Critical race theory is a college level class. It should be taught however k-12 should have accurate and through education of history. I think that our history books need to turn less towards the white washed version and critical race theory shoyld stay right where it is.

 @9C4YNRT from Texas  answered…2yrs2Y

Yes but only to teenagers, while I do believe kids should treat each other equally regardless of skin color; we record our history so our descendants don't make the same mistakes we did. To ignore and toss aside this information would be foolish in my opinion.

 @9BWGTZR from Texas  answered…2yrs2Y

while racism is important, it shouldn't be being taught in school when we need to be learning about the milestones in history, racism is already well known.

 @9BKNQBV from Texas  answered…2yrs2Y

Critical race theory should be taught when they mature and can understand the subject.

 @9BKNCKLPeace and Freedom from Texas  answered…2yrs2Y

I feel like everyone should be treated equally but learn about different regions.

 @99V2GMF from Texas  answered…2yrs2Y

I think they should learn when they get to middle school and through high school and actually giving out facts

 @984QR78 from Texas  answered…2yrs2Y

NO, children should just grow up with the common sense that we should all be treated equally no matter race or gender. It is okay to have different opinions, but bringing the past into the future and telling children that they are racist because they are a certain color is wrong.

 @96ZNFY8 from Texas  answered…2yrs2Y

No, but continue being inclusive of racial/ethnic groups involved in our history.

 @96PJK9RSocialist from Texas  answered…2yrs2Y

 @96GBGHMRepublican from Texas  answered…2yrs2Y

Kids should not feel their race and where they live to block their success.

 @96CGBD2 from Texas  answered…2yrs2Y

That is not for me to decide. I don't agree with it but I don't think we should ban books because of it either. Banning books is a violation of freedom of speech.

 @96BFB8M from Texas  answered…2yrs2Y

Continue the curriculum without involving race, treat all individuals equally, and accept that our institution as a whole is systematically racist, but do not enforce it upon everyone.

 @95THTK4 from Texas  answered…2yrs2Y

Question everything you hear and see. Most everything is based on capitalism and money. We are all burdened with different hurdles in life and it’s on us to address and overcome them.

 @95RNXL9 from Texas  answered…2yrs2Y

No, critical race theory isn't a k-12 topic. It's University level. None of these answers show that fact. Teaching about racism isn't critical race theory.

 @94FWSWS from Texas  answered…3yrs3Y

I think for many people CRT means something different. I would need a more specific definition to answer this question.

 @94FWM9KDemocrat from Texas  answered…3yrs3Y

Critical race theory is only a college course NOT K-12 MISLEADING QUESTION

 @93PFHSC from Texas  answered…3yrs3Y

Parents and community should decide if this is a topic for their children

 @93KXZRL from Texas  answered…3yrs3Y

 @93C4LRJ from Texas  answered…3yrs3Y

 @92KX9DN from Texas  answered…3yrs3Y

Yes, but only through 7-12 grade since students in elementary schools wouldn't be familiar with the problems of critical race theory and wouldn't understand it.

 @92D73XS from Texas  answered…3yrs3Y

I think this is just a political buzz word. We should be teaching the historical facts and not hide from our past.

 @929KGBV from Texas  answered…3yrs3Y

This is already not being taught - this is something discussed in graduate seminars in fields such as Sociology, History, and Political Science. Secondary and primary school students have no background to understand the concepts anyway, nor do their parents (who probably lack those degrees) so not only should it not be taught, it already IS NOT TAUGHT!

 @927NLDS from Texas  answered…3yrs3Y

 @926L2S3 from Texas  answered…3yrs3Y

No, critical race theory is an academic theory taught in law school and is not applicable in K-12 education.

 @8ZW284J from Texas  answered…3yrs3Y

No, but kids should be aware that the history of the country isn't as great as it was being told to them.

 @8ZHSZ54 from Texas  answered…3yrs3Y

CRT is not taught in K-12 but history should be taught more accurately at their level

 @8Z73NQLProgressive from Texas  answered…3yrs3Y

This question is misleading and should be removed. CRT is a graduate level theory that is not and has never been taught in K-12. It is a baiting question and contributes to misinformation that is currently disrupting public education and putting undue burdens on teachers in states like Indiana

 @8YCDJ64 from Texas  answered…3yrs3Y

no. if your whole point is equality and fair chances for everyone why would you tell certain people theyre inherently racist or disadvantaged based on their appearance? seems kinda contradictory to me.

 @8YBWMJD from Texas  answered…3yrs3Y

If it is to be taught then it should be later on between 8th grade to 10th grade, any earlier and the it will confuse the children and give them a wrong view on how things actualy run. Any later and it wont be neccesary because by then students will already know how the the "real world" works, or at least have a better understanding of it.

 @8XTW8KF from Texas  answered…3yrs3Y

No because of the fact that this will literally make them kids feel inferior because of the fact that they are being told that´s how the world sees them and treats them.

 @8X3NR46Peace and Freedom from Texas  answered…3yrs3Y

kids need to be taught about our history and how certain groups grew up however, they do not need to be taught sides or taught that they are racist. They simply need to know how America came to be through the good and through the bad and they need to be taught that at the right age meaning not when they are 5 years old but rather when they are teenagers and old enough to comprehend and put together their own opinions.

 @8VMNNTQ from Texas  answered…3yrs3Y

I believe that students should be taught both sides of history thoroughly and make sure they understand that the evils committed in the past can be rectified by our actions today.

 @8VMMXWL from Texas  answered…3yrs3Y

Yes, but not until late middle school and high-school. It shouldn't be like a subject but it should atleast be acknowledged in history classes

 @8TWCJPL from Texas  answered…4yrs4Y

No. We should include teaching about race and discrimination but not race as the sole determining factor in life outcome as indisputable fact.

 @8TQX5X7 from Texas  answered…4yrs4Y

No, teaching politicaly charged rhetoric within centralized schooling is indoctrination

 @8T8L8PJIndependent from Texas  answered…4yrs4Y

Yes, history and literature classes in particular should do a better job of including a larger variety of perspectives. Those perspectives should also be included on the regular basis, and not just during "Black History Month" or "Women's History Month."

 @8SZD9TJ from Texas  answered…4yrs4Y

I don’t think that those in the above mentioned age range are mature enough to understand the issue.

 @8S6R2HR from Texas  answered…4yrs4Y

No because I believe the new generations of K-12 will feel self-inclined to learn critical race theory themselves than from a system.

 @8R2YVNX from Texas  answered…4yrs4Y

No. Teachers need to teach subjects, not get involved in kids social behaviors. Being color blind always exists until someone disrespects or hurts another due to negativity or trouble making.

 @8QMMRRX from Texas  answered…4yrs4Y

No. I believe our institutions, laws, and history should be described plainly and honestly. Critical Race Theory is an opinion, and our children need to be taught how to think, not what to think.

 @8Q55VNJ from Texas  answered…4yrs4Y

I do agree that, based on the color of their skin, kids should not be taught they are racists or bigoted because their pigments, but I think children should be more knowledgeable about the goings-on with how society is currently structured starting from around Middle school.

 @8PZ8CYW from Texas  answered…4yrs4Y

 @8P4YXHR from Texas  answered…4yrs4Y

No, at a young age unless they notice and are problematic about this they should not show anything wrong with colored or not colored skin.

 @8LVKTW3 from Texas  answered…4yrs4Y

Only 9-12. Little kids wont understand what you are saying, and neither will kids in middle school.

 @9CBF33D from Texas  answered…2yrs2Y

It isn’t taught in elementary schools. It’s an advanced legal theory.

 @9BZX88V from Texas  answered…2yrs2Y

 @9BDPSY9 from Texas  answered…2yrs2Y

Critical Race Theory is only taught in college. This isn’t even a question.

 @99PDBST from Texas  answered…2yrs2Y

CRT is a law theory so no... but I do believe that kids deserve an unbiased historical education that shows the full depth of historical happening

 @99C82GM from Texas  answered…2yrs2Y

If you teach it you'd have to teach that africans enslaved their own people, that during the second world war Japan stole women from neighboring countries and used them as sex slaves, and that literally everyone everywhere can be racist.

 @995NTSC from Texas  answered…2yrs2Y

 @987STV4Libertarian from Texas  answered…2yrs2Y

No they do not, critical race theory is one of the worst things of humanity and should be stopped at all costs

 @984WJBF from Texas  answered…2yrs2Y

just teach them the actual history between the racial stuff than after wards let them decide

 @97KLZBM from Texas  answered…2yrs2Y

 @97GN7C9 from Texas  answered…2yrs2Y

As CRT is defined in this question, no. I also do not believe the 1st amendment is racist.

 @975686S from Texas  answered…2yrs2Y

Yes, but should begin in higher grade levels and not as early as Kindergarten.

 @9754MFZ from Texas  answered…2yrs2Y

No, but we should not ban books related to it for the sake of freedom of speech.

 @92YVFVS from Texas  answered…3yrs3Y

Yes, but not until they are teenagers so that they do not build up racial tendencies. Teaching racism will be better with teen's since they have a better understanding of the world.

 @8RDBDFB from Texas  answered…4yrs4Y

Democrats Suck, Color of skin has nothing to do with teaching it, most people are not blind. #FUNDTHEPOLICE

 @9X2V86J from Texas  answered…5mos5MO

I believe that history should be taught and that we should teach what will enrich and grow the minds of students to think critically. Theories should not be taught necessarily but discussed and consequences of the theory’s should be touched on
