Pirate Politics is a political ideology that originated from the Pirate Party movement, which first emerged in Sweden in 2006. The movement was initially focused on reforming laws regarding copyright and patents. The name "Pirate Party" was chosen to reclaim the term "pirate," which was being used to describe illegal internet file-sharers. The party aimed to reform copyright law, abolish the patent system, and ensure that citizens' rights to privacy were respected.
Over time, the Pirate Party movement has grown and spread to other countries, each with their…

What is more important to you: protecting your digital footprint or enjoying personalized digital services?
@9J6XL2JIndependent1yr1Y
Protecting your digital footprint is easily more important than personalization. If we start prioritizing personalization then we are destroying innovation and openness, and we are making ourselves stay in these echo chambers. If everything we read and see is personal then we will never hear another person's opinion or views. This also ruins empathy since we lose our connection to other people.
@9J6Y28L1yr1Y
protecting my digital footprint is important to me.
@9J6XY5F1yr1Y
Both because I want to enjoy but also protect my digital footprint
@ISIDEWITH1yr1Y
Can you describe a time when easier access to information could have helped you make a more informed personal decision?
@9KJMT7ZRepublican 1yr1Y
when I was in school a teacher tought me that barrak obama was the best canidiate hadns down. I wish I knew more about politics at the time becuse this realy confused me when I was a kid. my parents didnt support obama but my teacher did making me distrustfull of teachers
@9KJPGNJ1yr1Y
I can't say for myself, but I'd think it would been useful during a like the Vietnam War.
@9KJN9PC1yr1Y
Having easy access to information helps me understand a topic better and allows me to know what decision I would like to make.
@9KJMTDH1yr1Y
I've always had the internet personally so I don't know.
@ISIDEWITH1yr1Y
Share an instance where the free distribution of information online made a positive difference in your life or someone else’s.
@9KJMH351yr1Y
Sci-hub has been beneficial for the development of technology and research globally. I work in R&D.
@9KJM96Z1yr1Y
When I need an opposing opinion and I find something new that changes my view.
@9KJMP8G 1yr1Y
It made a positive difference for information or content I needed but couldn't afford.
@ISIDEWITH2yrs2Y
How does the idea of governments tracking online behavior make you feel about your own internet use?
@9HW25PJ 2yrs2Y
Tracking online behavior can and will stop a number of criminals, but that's all it should be used for. Not for advertising or to make people feel unsafe about their technology.
@9J2K7J61yr1Y
People have the right to be private unless they're trying to find someone who is criminal. If you have not done anything wrong, you should not be watched by them.
@9J2DTBX1yr1Y
Citizens should have a right to privacy. Unless it is in the name of public or national safety, their privacy shouldn't be infringed.
@9HW5NDSIndependent2yrs2Y
I do not do anything I shouldn't on the internet but I do not like that someone would be and probably already monitoring everything that I do. It freaks me out how I can be talking about something and then ads start appearing on my personal device soon after I discuss it.
@9HXD3B32yrs2Y
They should be some privacy for people on the internet to do as they please, but if specific websites or such that the government does not want people on they should keep an eye on.
@9HVYW6X2yrs2Y
That we wont be able to look up anything without them watching.
@9HVYPQL2yrs2Y
@ISIDEWITH2yrs2Y
How would you balance the rights of individuals to privacy online with national security concerns?
@9H7TYNQIndependent2yrs2Y
I feel like the individual privacy on the internet should be a bigger deal because as time goes on many things starts to transition from real life to internet. Many sensitive stuff is on there and some should not be seen by even the internet provider. But for national security is a tough case maybe for government official they can have the key to the information stored on the computer but maybe not too much.
@9H7TT7LRepublican2yrs2Y
I think online privacy is a big deal. Everyone should have access to national online security.
@9H7TWM72yrs2Y
Net neutrality is important, and everyone's privacy online should be protected, even if its piracy, as its a victimless crime.
@9H7VV7HConstitution2yrs2Y
Child pornagraphy producers should be executed, and hackers should be sent to prison and make social media platforms yeald to the constitution
@ISIDEWITH2yrs2Y
Reflect on a time when a lack of internet freedom affected your ability to express yourself or learn.
@Fluffysocks099 2yrs2Y
There have been many times in which I was not able to research topics adequately due to articles and sources being pay walled.
@9HW7F36 2yrs2Y
Any time I want to comment something not on a political agenda comments are turned off
@ISIDEWITH2yrs2Y
In a digital age, should all information be free, or are there limits to what should be shared?
@9H754XT2yrs2Y
Companies are no better than internet pirates. But yes, pirating is wrong and shouldn’t be done.
@ISIDEWITH2yrs2Y
Considering the goals of the Pirate Party, what changes, if any, would you like to see in your local government's policy?
I agree wholeheartedly in their goals and think it could be a boon to the general public if they gained more momentum here in America.
@9H5QH6K2yrs2Y
I think that it is experiencing a metamorphosis in its way of governing and its management structures.
@ISIDEWITH1yr1Y
What is the most radical change you would like to make to internet laws, and what drives your stance on this issue?
@9KJMWMB1yr1Y
no censorship of the people practicing their first amendment god given rights
@9KJMT7ZRepublican 1yr1Y
I just wish people would be more reasanable on the internet, not going to the political extremes making everybody seem terible
@ISIDEWITH1yr1Y
Imagine a world where every internet user contributes to governing it; what rules or systems would you put in place?
I would consider equal representation and promoting transparency in decision making processes protecting the data of our phones and stuff
@9KJCN7M 1yr1Y
Pirating should not be considered a crime; most streaming services are wayyy too expensive and barely pay their artists a livable wage. Hate speech should be banned. Websites and apps would not be allowed to mine data.
@ISIDEWITH2yrs2Y
@ISIDEWITH1yr1Y
How do the entertainment and media you consume online influence your viewpoints, and what responsibility do creators have in this?
@9KJPGNJ1yr1Y
A piece of media with certain viewpoints may be the only experience a person has to those viewpoints, and so they will tend to agree with what they start to find familiar.
@9KJMTDH1yr1Y
What we see online often determines how we feel about political views. If we see more far right pov of certain political issues we will naturally start to agree with them.
@ISIDEWITH1yr1Y
How would you feel about voting on important political issues directly through the internet, and why?
@9KJLPYD1yr1Y
Not good. People would be easily influenced by others.
This is how it should be. I vote for other countries that I am a citizen of easily over the internet.
@ISIDEWITH1yr1Y
If you discovered a security flaw in a software you use daily, would you report it or exploit it, and why?
@ISIDEWITH1yr1Y
How would your social media interactions change if all your actions were public and unalterable?
my social media interactions would likely prompt me to adopt a more measured and deliberate approach to discussing Pirate Politics, with a focus on transparency, authenticity, and accountability
@9KVXVNQ1yr1Y
It’ll change the way I see a lot of my friends, If there is something I don’t agree with, my friendship is on the line.
@ISIDEWITH1yr1Y
How does your trust in the digital platforms you use daily affect the information you choose to share?
@9JQL84W 1yr1Y
I don't trust any platforms. I don't post pictures of myself online, I barely speak online, I barely do anything. My online presence is next to nothing as I don't want my future to be stolen by my past actions immortalized on the screen.
@9JQKK6Z1yr1Y
I don’t share any personal information due to the hackers on the internet.
@ISIDEWITH1yr1Y
@ISIDEWITH2yrs2Y
Describe a time when sharing information freely helped you or someone you know in a significant way.
@9HVCCFN 2yrs2Y
We were able to watch a movie we wanted to watch together.
@ISIDEWITH10mos10MO
How would your perception of the internet change if all digital barriers were removed, making every piece of information freely accessible to you?
@ISIDEWITH1yr1Y
What power does open access to data hold for disadvantaged communities, and how can it be harnessed responsibly?
@9JJ67CH1yr1Y
The disadvantaged communities have a less commitment role to the political stand, but they are still able to vote.
I dislike the idea of open access to data. I think only a select few people should be able to hold that power. To fix this, we should reduce the amount of power people have over these topics.
@ISIDEWITH1yr1Y
If you knew that nothing you do online could be monitored or censored, how would you behave differently?
@9KWGPX41yr1Y
The online world should work on the balance of trust not spying but it is unavoidable so I would act more sincere to others without the need to forced to act like that due to spying.
@9KWGKMK1yr1Y
I still most likely would attempt to act more with decency, however, I would most likely have to remind myself to continue acting appropriately, that some people would be uncomfortable with what I say and do.
@ISIDEWITH1yr1Y
What's your take on the balance between creative freedom and protecting the rights of content creators?
@9KVWY9W1yr1Y
Creative freedom and protecting the rights of content creators is the same thing. There was a time when the rules were easy. Don't upload an entire movie to YouTube, or play the entirety of a song without critique. The rules now are incredibly destructive and far too difficult for everyday people to get a good legal grasp of.
@9KVWV3D1yr1Y
Our current restrictions are fine but we cannot keep letting companies like Disney keep extending the time for a creation to enter the public domain
@ISIDEWITH1yr1Y
How would you feel about a world with open source everything, and what would the consequences be?
I feel like anything can be stolen by anyone and people can profit off of other peoples work. I am decently satisfied with copyright laws right now.
@9KVXZJ81yr1Y
I THINK THAT OPEN SOURCE EVERYTHING IS REDICULUOUS. I THINK THAT EVERYONE WOULD TAKE IT FOR GRANTED.
@ISIDEWITH1yr1Y
How do you envision a society where individuals have complete control over their digital identities?
@9KVYCX4Constitution1yr1Y
In the digital world, the entirety of the people will never have complete control over their identities
@9KVXBMH1yr1Y
I don't see how that can work having a society where individuals have complete control
@ISIDEWITH2yrs2Y
Do you believe intellectual property laws need reform, and if so, how might that affect artists and creators?
@9H745JL2yrs2Y
There should be an increase in residuals for past profitable work projects.
@ISIDEWITH2yrs2Y
Discuss an instance where you think government transparency could have prevented a crisis or injustice.
@9HW6X752yrs2Y
Just don't be mean man, be nice, want the best for your people, why do you need more than everyone else?
@ISIDEWITH2yrs2Y
How do you envision the future of digital rights activism in light of the rise of surveillance technologies?
@9J6SGM41yr1Y
people who want to have all sorts of secrecy more than likely have something to hide, there should be no need to restrict actions that were put in place to prevent possible threats.
@ISIDEWITH2yrs2Y
What does the term 'transparency in government' mean to you, and why might it be important?
@9H742W9Progressive2yrs2Y
Not hiding corrupt actions from the public eye. It's important to keep the government honest.
@ISIDEWITH1yr1Y
@ISIDEWITH2yrs2Y
@ISIDEWITH1yr1Y
How would your online behavior change if you knew that your data would never be used for advertisement purposes?
@9KN27V71yr1Y
I wouldn't be as cautious as I am now when being online
@ISIDEWITH2yrs2Y
Have you ever felt that your privacy online was compromised, and how does that influence your view on internet surveillance?
@9HF7LMSIndependent2yrs2Y
I feel as though internet surveillance is a little low.
@ISIDEWITH1yr1Y
What could you personally do to promote the values of openness and accessibility in the digital ecosystem you're part of?
@9KPJ3Z81yr1Y
I think our privacy and personal information should be kept private. But the idea of using technology as a pay to spread democratic ideas is good because it allows bigger access. But I don't know enough about the topic.
