You believe that a balanced distribution of power between national and regional governments leads to a more efficient and stable political system.
Federalism is a political ideology that advocates for a mixed or compound mode of government, combining a general government (the central or federal government) with regional governments (provincial, state, cantonal, territorial or other sub-unit governments) in a single political system. Its distinguishing feature, exemplified in the founding example of modern federalism by the United States under the Constitution of 1787, is a relationship of parity between the two levels of government established. It can thus be defined as a form of government in which there is a division of powers betwe…

Do you think your concerns as a young person are more likely to be addressed by local or national governments, and why?
@9LF47HN10mos10MO
Not really because majority of them are a lot older so they assume that you would be asking a "dumb" question or one that is "common sense"
@9LF46QR 10mos10MO
I think my concerns are most likely to be addressed by the national government because they would be able to understand more I would say.
@9LF3YCG10mos10MO
national, its obvious the younger generations is seeking into elections and our opinion powers are growing
@Patriot-#1776Constitution7mos7MO
Local, because I'm not a whiny, diaper-pooping crybaby screaming about social justice, reparations, earth-worshipping cultism, or government handouts. The only services government should provide are a military, police, and courts – and we already spend too much on the military. So my sole concerns are police and courts, which are and should be handled by local governments and States.
@ISIDEWITH10mos10MO
In what ways do you think a state with greater control over broadcasting and media might affect the information you receive?
@9LFNW5H10mos10MO
A left wing state will only show there view in order to gain votes
@9LFP6K410mos10MO
I have no idea. Reading this question made me have anxiety .
@9LFP6DP10mos10MO
It could show you only one side of an argument or disagreement.
@Patriot-#1776Constitution7mos7MO
Something similar to what the Feds currently do.
@ISIDEWITH1yr1Y
How might your personal rights and freedoms be impacted if the balance of power shifted significantly towards either the national or state governments?
@9HGNSLF1yr1Y
if the power shifted towards the states then there would be more diversity in the law.
@9HGN76X1yr1Y
My rights would increase if the power shifted to state government, but would decrease with a national government.
As a black person in America, my rights would probably shift downward.
@Patriot-#1776Constitution7mos7MO
If States' Rights were restored, America would enter a new golden age of prosperity and individual liberty where states, localities, and individuals themselves can check the usurpations of the federal government to an extent not seen since before the Civil War. The Federal Reserve, Legal Tender Laws, the Gold Standard, Foreign Aid, Welfare Spending, and Omnibus Bills, and all Direct Taxation could be nullified.
@ISIDEWITH10mos10MO
How does federalism contribute to or detract from the sense of unity and shared purpose among residents of your state?
I think it can make things complicated when understanding what rules to follow, but I believe it has been our fairest system.
Creates a problematic/tense space for people, arguing over their political views
@9LGJJBF10mos10MO
Federalism can contribute to a sense of unity by allowing states to address unique local needs while being part of a larger whole. It can also bring about differences in politics among states ,which may impact the sense of national unity .
@ISIDEWITH1yr1Y
Can you imagine a scenario where federalism could either help or hinder your country during a crisis?
@ISIDEWITH1yr1Y
What are the benefits or drawbacks you've experienced from your state or province having powers separate from the central government?
@9HPWW8H1yr1Y
Some fundamental rights have been questioned in the past because of federalism. Specifically marriage laws.
@9HPWW6TRepublican1yr1Y
People are sometimes just confused as to what is allowed when there are so many different rules.
@9HPWW591yr1Y
it helps keep power close to the people i enjoy it
@ISIDEWITH1yr1Y
Do you think a federal system makes it easier or harder to enact important social changes, and can you provide an example?
@9HGMY7BRepublican1yr1Y
i think it makes it harder as all states and the federal goverment has to agree to pass amendments
@ISIDEWITH1yr1Y
How does federalism influence your feelings of representation and self-governance?
@ISIDEWITH1yr1Y
@ISIDEWITH1yr1Y
Do you think a strong central government is more important for stability, or should individual states have more freedom to govern themselves?
@9H8ZLL71yr1Y
I think a strong central government is more important, but at least let the states contribute on their freedom also.
@9H8Z4SX1yr1Y
I think that a strong central government is more important because it helps to keep all the states equal and have a sense of equality, while still allowing the states to have their own power.
@ISIDEWITH11mos11MO
@ISIDEWITH1yr1Y
How would you feel if your local state government had more control over the issues that affect your daily life than the national government?
@ISIDEWITH1yr1Y
Imagine your ideal balance of power between local and national governments; what does it look like, and how does it work?
@9HY68KC1yr1Y
My ideal balanaced idea looks like an equally powered nation that relies on each other and cannot have power to overthrow one another's branch.
@ISIDEWITH1yr1Y
@ISIDEWITH1yr1Y
In your opinion, does dividing power between national and local governments help protect individual freedoms or could it lead to inequality between regions?
@9H8NZYDRepublican1yr1Y
I believe that it will help protect individual rights.
@9H8NMWF1yr1Y
I think it could lead to inequality, states are already indpendent and if they were any more it could create inequality.
@ISIDEWITH11mos11MO
@ISIDEWITH12mos12MO
How would you articulate the impact of federalism on the opportunities and challenges presented in your local job market?
@ISIDEWITH12mos12MO
How does having a layered government impact your sense of belonging in your community and country?
@ISIDEWITH1yr1Y
Can you suggest a way that federalism can encourage states to innovate or compete in positive ways?
@9HY67D41yr1Y
It encourages states by having them more involved in decision making
@9HY59RYLibertarian1yr1Y
States should have their own policies and citizens can live where their ideas are shown.
@ISIDEWITH10mos10MO
What role does federalism play in shaping the healthcare you and your loved ones receive?
@ISIDEWITH1yr1Y
How has federalism impacted your awareness or interest in political matters at the national vs. the state level?
@9HV7X9V1yr1Y
It hasn't impacted my awareness in a big way, its just different rule being distributed by different levels of the nation.
@ISIDEWITH1yr1Y
Why might someone argue that the existence of state governments is crucial to maintaining cultural diversity within a country?
@9J3QTQW1yr1Y
Because a state goervns its people instead of federal.
@ISIDEWITH10mos10MO
How does federalism make you think about your rights and how you can exercise them within different jurisdictions?
@9LF3KDV10mos10MO
US federalism is perfect because it protects peoples rights and there is a bill of rights in our constitution so that the government cannot have absolute power over the US citizen
@ISIDEWITH1yr1Y
@ISIDEWITH1yr1Y
Should the federal government have the final say in critical issues like healthcare and education, or is it better managed at the state level?
@9H9BWPK1yr1Y
I think some issues like education are better off on the state level, but there are definitely some issues that we need big government to regulate.
@ISIDEWITH11mos11MO
When have you felt that your community benefitted from having the autonomy to make its own decisions?
@9KD6GMWRepublican11mos11MO
My community doesn't have that power currently, and it causes much economic strife.
@ISIDEWITH11mos11MO
How has the pull between state and federal laws influenced discussions within your school or community?
@9K9435211mos11MO
State law has definitely trumped what the government produces as law and we take more about how aour laws are affected by the government than the opposite.
@ISIDEWITH11mos11MO
How do you feel when national decisions override the preferences of your local community?
@9KY4QCZ10mos10MO
An example of this is the Supreme Court case of Brown v. Board of Education, which mandated the desegregation of public schools nationwide. In summary, federalism allows national, state, and local governments to affect one another through legislation, funding, intergovernmental cooperation, and judicial review.
@ISIDEWITH12mos12MO
In what ways has the autonomy of your local government empowered or constrained the choices you make in life?
@9JLK36GLibertarian12mos12MO
I can no longer use single use plastic bags when shopping for groceries.
@ISIDEWITH1yr1Y
Do you think federalism affects how the world sees your country, and if so, in what ways?
@9HZMNVR 1yr1Y
I don't think federalism affects how the world sees our country because we have not used or diploid a federalist society in a long time.
@ISIDEWITH1yr1Y
@ISIDEWITH11mos11MO
Would your perspective on government spending and taxation change if local entities had greater budgetary autonomy?
@9KWKSFC 10mos10MO
The government should be doing less spending and avoid increasing taxation
@ISIDEWITH11mos11MO
If you could choose one national service to be managed locally, like public transportation or parks, what would it be?
@9K8QCKZ11mos11MO
I would like to see more trains be managed locally. I would like to see it more affordable to ride a train.
@ISIDEWITH1yr1Y
Can you see any disadvantages to your state having too much independence, perhaps in areas like healthcare availability or education standards?
@9HZKTVD1yr1Y
No, the states should be under the federal government in terms of most laws, but exceptions should be made for that which the federal government is unneeded for.
@ISIDEWITH10mos10MO
How might the principle of federalism impact your future decisions about where to live or work in your country?
@9LF3CZCRepublican10mos10MO
Me believing in less government intervention, Federalism seems like something I wouldn't like. I'm sure many of my peers would agree.
@ISIDEWITH10mos10MO
If your community could prioritize one issue for local governance, what should it be and why?
@9LJFS4L9mos9MO
making adoption cheaper and an easier process with a bit of oversight for the first few years of a child life and first 5 years for a baby. Additional stipulation would be that gay married couples would able to adopt and it can’t be contested by the state.
@ISIDEWITH12mos12MO
How would you describe the influence of federalism on the strength and responsiveness of your country's leadership?
@9JP4TCX12mos12MO
The countries leader is the representative of the whole country
