Should everyone blindly trust scientific consensus without personal research, and why or why not?

 @9H5JHSQanswered…2yrs2Y

Yes and no they know more then we ever will about earth considering they've been studying it their whole lifes almost and are fascinated by it while we barely put thought into it, but at the same time they still have'nt did it.

 @9H5HQLD from Missouri  answered…2yrs2Y

Not necessarily. Individual research should be encouraged, but certified scientists always have more credibility.

 @9H5JL6D from North Dakota  answered…2yrs2Y

Acceptance of anything without understanding the science behind it is dangerous, and can lead to false conclusions.

 @9H5K5Y7 from Minnesota  answered…2yrs2Y

no because you wont know if its true or not intell you do some kind of reaserch

 @ISIDEWITHasked…2yrs2Y

What personal experiences or observations have led you to your current perspective on climate change?

 @9H8BJCG from Minnesota  answered…2yrs2Y

Education mostly. Learning about climate change and also witnessing its effects first hand.

 @ISIDEWITHasked…1yr1Y

Would the discovery of past climate change inaccuracies affect your trust in current climate science, and in what way?

 @9KM8257 from California  answered…1yr1Y

No, I have no doubt in my mind when it comes to current climate science, our world is in danger of being destroyed due to climate change.

 @9KMPN8NGreen from Illinois  agreed…1yr1Y

If my opinion is more important than the actual data recorded by worldwide scientists and scientific organizations, we are already doomed.

 @9KMMVC4 from California  answered…1yr1Y

yes because we can more about the climate change and how was in past before now.

 @9KM7MSDIndependent from California  answered…1yr1Y

Probably not, but I have hope from the bottom of my heart that maybe we can stop it

 @ISIDEWITHasked…1yr1Y

If an important aspect of your way of life was harming the environment, how would you feel and what would you do?

 @9KYCY33 from Illinois  answered…1yr1Y

I would immediately change my ways and find a new way to help the environment.

 @9KY7DSG from Oregon  answered…1yr1Y

I would feel targeted and I would try to stop it trying to find a less harmful replacement.

 @9KY76PL from Illinois  answered…1yr1Y

I would find ways to completely stop and replace it with something that doesn't harm the enviroment if i could not then i would find a less harmful replacement or try to mitigate it some how

 @ISIDEWITHasked…2yrs2Y

If climate change were proven to be natural, would you feel less responsible for taking action?

 @9H3V9HZ from New York  answered…2yrs2Y

I doubt that climate change is natural. However if it were to be hypothetically proven natural, I believe that humanity should still take responsibility in taking precautions to protect our species from the dangers of climate change, whatever they may be, and however we can do it.

 @9H3V2ML from Pennsylvania  answered…2yrs2Y

Slightly, however we are the only species on Earth that can promote positive change.

 @9H3V2KCSocialist from North Carolina  answered…2yrs2Y

 @9H3Z22H from Texas  answered…2yrs2Y

Hypothetically, if it were proven that climate change was a 100% natural occurrence I would feel less responsible but we as humans are the only current species on earth able to have control over what can be done about climate change as a whole. So I think the feeling of responsibility would remain but be less intense.

 @ISIDEWITHasked…2yrs2Y

How might large-scale environmental changes influence your community or local economy?

 @9HKH6T8 from California  answered…2yrs2Y

 @9HKH7JQ from Arizona  answered…2yrs2Y

Im not to knowledgeable about climate change but I do trust science, if there is an issue that has scientists pleading to be heard then I think we should listen.

Imagine a world where climate change solutions are universally agreed upon; what does it look like?

 @9HKJ5D5 from California  answered…2yrs2Y

 @9HKJ5LJ from Kansas  answered…2yrs2Y

It looks like a healthie place to live in which the earth is not dying as fast.

 @David-Alvarez  from Virginia  answered…2yrs2Y

Leaving more reliantly on ones self whilst taking care of nature and sometimes sacrificing a little when needed.

 @ISIDEWITHasked…2yrs2Y

How could changes in environmental policies affect your job or industry in the future?

 @9HKHTC9 from Missouri  answered…2yrs2Y

It can affect the way we were originally trained to do the job. We would have to change everything that we do.

 @9HKHRVX from Illinois  answered…2yrs2Y

I work in the energy transmission industry, most green energy options are currently cheaper than fossil fuel generation due to the lack of maintenance work. The issue is a lack of domestic production methods means it’s difficult to acquire the precursors at scale to be able to make an economic difference in a short period of time. Discussing the ongoing benefit and stabilizing energy costs in a sustainable way will benefit all industries; largely this issue has nothing to do with carbon, yet carbon remains the focus because of the political benefits for taking stances for/against the idea of carbon mitigation.

 @ISIDEWITHasked…2yrs2Y

What lessons can we learn from past societal responses to environmental crises?

 @9HKHMDK from California  answered…2yrs2Y

The lessons we can learn from past societal responses to environmental crises more collaboration and global cooperation. Being able to share knowledge, resources can help address environmental challenges more effectively.

 @9HKHGM5Peace and Freedom from California  answered…2yrs2Y

We can learn that there are ways to affect climate change and we also learn that people don't care.

 @ISIDEWITHasked…2yrs2Y

If definitive proof of climate change's severity was found, how should the world's leaders respond?

 @9HTBXHJRepublican from Massachusetts  answered…2yrs2Y

Invest in researching technologies with which we can adapt instead of banning, restricting, and subsidizing already existing products.

  @9CJ6CB6 from Virginia  commented…1yr1Y

It already has been found, but the current goal should be to sever the ties of fossil fuel lobbyists from government, and work towards researching as many new technologies as possible to help fix it. We need to adopt an “all-green alternatives” approach to move away from fossil fuels, reduce fossil fuel use in the energy sector, work for alternatives in other industries, reduce emissions caused by deforestation, forest fires, or farmlands.

 @ISIDEWITHasked…2yrs2Y

If you could ask a climate scientist any question, what would it be, and why?

 @9HKJSMT from Colorado  answered…2yrs2Y

I would ask how bad the climate issue is really, and not how certain medias portray it. I would ask this because it is a very real, and relevant issue today, but certain news sources share their OPINIONS on the matter rather than the FACTS.

What are your feelings towards the loss of natural habitats and the possible link to climate change?

 @9HT98KPSocialist from Washington  answered…2yrs2Y

The loss of natural habitats, climate change, droughts and famine due to human action are indisputable. Climate change skeptics are in part astro-turfed by Capital. Capital is threatened by increased regulation which will decrease their profits.

 @ISIDEWITHasked…1yr1Y

How do you negotiate between your community's economic needs and the larger climate change concerns?

 @9L58RGRRepublican  from Illinois  answered…1yr1Y

I would push what affects us now and then fix the bigger picture because I feel like as long as we are surviving in the current situation then we can work on the future.

 @9L57MPD from Illinois  answered…1yr1Y

By actually communicating with your community to come to a resolution that benefits both sides

 @ISIDEWITHasked…1yr1Y

 @ISIDEWITHasked…1yr1Y

What do you think is the role of individuals in countering misconceptions about climate change within their own circles?

 @9KNHSVZ from North Carolina  answered…1yr1Y

 @9H9J2DWDemocrat from Illinois  answered…2yrs2Y

 @ISIDEWITHasked…2yrs2Y

In your own life, what sacrifices would you be willing to make to combat climate change?

 @ISIDEWITHasked…2yrs2Y

What drives your trust in information regarding environmental issues, and how do you determine credibility?

 @9HKHNNHfrom Maine  answered…2yrs2Y

A broad understanding of geology, chemistry, deep earth history and climate systems achieved through schooling and self-directed learning through multiple sources. Many books, scientific papers, a few more (seemingly) credible content creators. Also a look at opposing viewpoints, and trying to figure out where the truth lies. In short: it's real, it's happening, it's our fault, it'll be expensive and damaging to Earth's biosystems.
But, it's a technical challenge that we can solve without hysteria in the way we did the ozone hole and acid rain. It's a toughie, but is most certainly not the end of the world, or the end of humanity.

 @ISIDEWITHasked…2yrs2Y

If evidence surfaced tomorrow that reshaped our understanding of climate, how should educators respond?

 @9HPPLVH from Pennsylvania  answered…2yrs2Y

 @ISIDEWITHasked…2yrs2Y

Can questioning established science lead to better understanding, or does it cause unnecessary confusion?

 @9H6BYJT from California  answered…2yrs2Y

A key component of the scientific method involves challenging accepted theories and hypotheses in order to get a deeper knowledge of complicated phenomena, such as climate science. Scientific advancement is propelled by a healthy skepticism that motivates scientists to assess preexisting theories critically, test hypotheses, and improve models.

 @ISIDEWITHasked…2yrs2Y

If significant evidence against human-driven climate change emerges, what should be the first step taken by governments and individuals?

 @9H8BDR6 from Washington  answered…2yrs2Y

 @ISIDEWITHasked…2yrs2Y

Imagine if future technologies could easily reverse climate change; would immediate actions to reduce emissions still be important?
