Gay Marriage is stupid. I believe it should be banned because in the bible it states that a man and a women should be married so gay marriage is not following what the bible says also in the bible and book of Mormon no one is in a gay relationship and they still got a lot done.
@9GKSZLM3yrs3Y
@9CJ6CB63yrs3Y
Jesus Christ I'm sorry we share the same religion. The Bible is not a basis for government, nor the Book of Mormon. It's not about getting crap done, it's about letting gay couples just live in peace, letting them be happy together regardless of gender because that isn't a freaking issue in the slightest. Just because they cannot biologically have kids doesn't make them unnatural. Just because the Bible and the Book of Mormon BARELY even touch the subject but seem just a tiny bit negative doesn't mean that it's not supposed to be legal. The actual LDS churche's stance is that the option should and must be allowed for people's personal choice, but isn't sanctioned to them.

I agree with the author. I believe gay couples should not be a thing because I personally think its weird.

I don't support gay marriage or any kind of LGBTQ. Marriage should be between man and woman. It’s not that hard to understand

America was founded on a christian base with christian founding fathers, and gay marriage is against that so I am against.
@VulcanMan6 3yrs3Y
Not only is it completely irrelevant what faith the founding fathers did or did not have, but they also believed in a separation of church and state, so even if you accept their beliefs then it means you have to accept that your religion cannot be applied to laws regardless...
@Freedom762yrs2Y
Separation of Church and State is not in our Constitution. It was cherry-picked out of ONE Thomas Jefferson letter where he argued that government should not *INTERFERE* with churches, not that Churches should not wield influence over policy, or that faith doesn't have a place in government.

The basic law of the land was written by an avowed anti-Christian named Thomas Jefferson who is known for the Jeffersonian Bible that removed all instances of divinity from the Bible. Go pick one up at your favorite book store.

The Jeffersonian Bible did away with the miracles. This is wrong, but it still maintained the teachings of the original Word.

As long as you don't want your own homophobia to be legally applied to everyone, then it doesn't really matter tbh
@Freedom762yrs2Y
"Homophobia" is one of the stupidest words in the English language, because no one who's called a "Homophobe" is actually *afraid* of these people. We just disagree with them, and think they're narcissists like you.

Marriage is not only religious, it also provides legal rights like taxes, inheritance, and hospital decision-making that the government must protect equally. If marriage were only religious, non-religious people or those rejected by religions would lose those legal protections. The Supreme Court of the United States has affirmed that marriage is a legal right, so the government must stay involved to ensure equality for everyone.

I don't think gay marriage should be legal. We are born with specific bodies that represent who we are. We can't change those, and we shouldn't. There is no logical reason for same sex marriage, especially if we want to increase the population in America, there is no way to do that with same sex marriage.
@9FRW8KB3yrs3Y

A strong argument for taking the government out of marriage is based on the principle of separation of church and state. In the United States, the government already recognizes civil unions and legal partnerships for tax, inheritance, and healthcare purposes. Marriage, however, has historically been a religious institution defined differently across faiths. By removing the government from defining marriage and instead allowing it to remain a religious decision, it protects religious freedom and prevents the state from redefining something that many people view as sacred. Different religions can then define marriage according to their beliefs, while the government handles legal contracts equally for all citizens.

It’s impossible to even life a gay life, if you want children, it’s impossible. Only women can do that not MEN. So they have to adopt and feel that child is their own and they know it’s not, it’s hard to exept that the child is not biologically yours but you feel connected to it. It’s impossible to be stocked to someone who you love in which is not you own to take.

I believe that gay marriage is unnecessary. I believe it should be banned or should not be an option because in multiple religions a gay marriage is a sin. Also in the bibles it states that a man and women should be married and not a gay or any other LGTBQ+ marriage is flowing what the bible states.

Marriage was always made from religions in the first place so why should the government have a say on it, I am sorry there isn't any other religions still alive to support it but religions should at the very least exist for pure intend as in with real care and not so people can have all the sex they want and their own selfish HUMAN desires, this is why I trust DOGS and ROBOTS more than HUMANS. I don't want to live on this planet anymore if all there is is just more hate, sex, lies, and fighting for any reason HUMANS can find as to gain for themselves.

The most compelling counter-argument to the position that the government should exit the marriage sphere and delegate it solely to religious institutions centers on the fundamental legal and civil nature of the marriage contract. Currently, a government-issued marriage license is not a religious endorsement but a secular legal instrument that automatically confers over a thousand specific, essential rights and protections, including inheritance, joint tax filing eligibility, hospital visitation rights, and presumption of parentage for children. Removing the government would abolish this stand… Read more

The practice of marriage outside of religion is a way of providing a couple with certain benefits and guarantees. People are free to engage in a relationship with whoever they want and deserve the governmental benefits (taxes, property ownership, parental rights) enjoyed by anyone else. The practice of marriage in a religious institution is and should be treated as a separate practice.

If government removed itself from the church it will be just like what happened in European history all over again, while I don’t support gay marriage, that doesn’t mean that it should be illegal because everyone should have free will, not “controlled will.” I don’t support it but it shouldn’t be illegal.

Our country and our civilisation is founded on certain values and those values are extremely important. One of those values is the meaning of marriage. Marriage is (should be I should say) by definition between a man and a woman. There are few arguments apart from this in regards to this debate. It's not really based on factual evidence
@B3VGV2T 11mos11MO
One common argument against removing the government from marriage and making it solely a religious decision, particularly in the context of gay marriage, centers on the vast number of legal rights and benefits tied to civil marriage.
Here's a breakdown of the counter-argument:
1. Loss of Legal Rights and Protections:
Civil marriage, recognized by the government, provides numerous legal rights and protections at both state and federal levels. These include, but are not limited to, benefits related to Social Security, veterans' affairs, pensions, military bases, inheritance, hospital… Read more

Marriage is a covenant between God, Man, and Woman in my religion. That said, I am open to and supportive of a legally binding contract (civil union license or certificate) between any two loving, consenting adults in order to merge financial, proprietary, medical, and other decisions, obligations, and responsibilities, however. I think the term "marriage" should be kept for the religious definition and the term "civil union" should be kept for the secular definition.
@9GYYW5H3yrs3Y
The claim "Take the government out of marriage and instead make it a religious decision." presupposes that the goals government and religion have no overlap in this sphere. However, this is not true in totality. There is some overlap. For example, both religion and political authorities are concerned with the common good of society. Now, since the common good of society falls into both the government and religious sphere, it follows that the government has a role in promoting marriage.
