What is one aspect of your life you wish had less government involvement, and how would it benefit you?

 @9RD7M3F from Pennsylvania  answered…7mos7MO

Taxation, it is theft. I don’t like being stolen from.

  @jsimicConstitution from Texas  disagreed…5mos5MO

Taxation, it is theft.

Render unto Caesar that which is Caesar's.

The lack of nuance in your slogan is why it is false.

 @MAGA_Deplorable from Washington  disagreed…3mos3MO

Before Jesus said that, the Pharisees had asked him whether it was lawful to pay taxes to Caesar or not. Jesus didn't say no, it's true, but neither did he say yes. Instead he asked whose image and whose likeness was on the Denarius. He asked to see the coin. On the coin, it said that Caesar was divine. When Jesus said "Render unto Caesar the things that are Caesars, and to God the things that are God's," it is entirely possible that he meant that people needed to stop glorifying Ceasar like he was a God and remember that they owed their allegiance to Him, not to…  Read more

I wish the government would keep out of my wallet and stop making a tax slave of me for six months out of the year.

  @Cuz-I-Know-Stuff from Ohio  disagreed…1mo1MO

Do you want nice roads? New sidewalks? Quick first responders? Then I suggest you shut up about your taxes

 @MAGA_Deplorable from Washington  disagreed…2wks2W

That's a red herring argument, designed by statists to distract from any meaningful dialogue about taxes. Theft is defined as the forceful taking of someone else's property. Taxation is also the forceful taking of someone else's property. Taxation is theft. It's not rocket science. You might claim it's different when the State takes our money from us, because they provide us valuable "services" such as the ones you mentioned. You cannot make that argument with any consistency or intellectual honesty at all unless you also make the argument that any random…  Read more

In what ways do you think minimal government intervention would impact innovation and entrepreneurship?

 @9RD2286 from Ohio  answered…7mos7MO

Less regulation will hurt the public. Corporations will always choose to hurt the consumers if they think it will be profitable for them.

  @Patriot-#1776Constitution from Washington  disagreed…6mos6MO

It is never profitable for corporations to harm people, in a free market those that do die.

 @FabulousUrchinDemocrat from Missouri  disagreed…6mos6MO

What about the tobacco industry? Companies like Philip Morris and RJ Reynolds spent millions on advertising and lobbying to maintain their market dominance, all while internal documents revealed that they were aware of the dangers of their products. They even targeted young people to ensure a steady stream of new customers. They were incredibly profitable while causing significant harm to their consumers. Even in a relatively free market, they thrived over a hundred years until regulations and public awareness campaigns finally caught up.

 @MAGA_Deplorable from Washington  disagreed…3mos3MO

They thrived because then little evidence existed that smoking was harmful. It had been done for centuries, and no one thought anything of it. When people heard that it could cause cancer and other problems, they stopped smoking. Now those companies have lost money.

Just keep the police, ensure punishments for crimes, and ensure extra surveillance of muslim immigrants. All other government intervention can go.

How do you think society would change if businesses operated with almost no government oversight?

 @9RD3FX4 from South Carolina  answered…7mos7MO

Some, if not most, businesses would exploit their workers without government oversight.

 @9SBSJ6W from Ohio  commented…6mos6MO

With government oversight employers exploit their workers and treat them like crap without government oversight we'd see an economic collapse or medieval times type environment.a complete rollback in civil rights.

 @9RD7TN9 from Illinois  answered…7mos7MO

I think society would go to **** . People could very well die, or at the very least be harmed by the lack of ethics a lot of businesses show in their chase of money.

 @9TDKMZVRepublican from California  answered…5mos5MO

I think that if there was no government involvement in maintaining public spaces then I think that the state governments should be thinking of ideas to coney the idea.

Can a society thrive on the principles of mutual respect and voluntary cooperation alone? Describe your ideal community.

 @B2WVBGG from Virginia  answered…1wk1W

No, there are warlords

Mutual respect and voluntary cooperation last until five or six people decide to get together and mutually respect each other, cooperate with each other, and take everybody else's stuff. A tiny number of people can pull this off; there have been coups in Africa that were carried out by less than a hundred men, equipped as light infantry.

I'm skeptical of the idea of building a community from scratch, but there are plenty of small, incremental changes that could make current societies slightly better places to live. Just remember that it's much easier to make a society worse than better; in particular, don't embrace political violence (especially not coups or rioting bands of paramilitaries; killing Hitler is fine, if he's actually Hitler), and once the state monopoly of violence is established, don't relinquish it.
