The people coming into our country, many are nice people, but it must be done through a process. Many of the people coming into our country are bringing crime, drugs, rape, etc. We will not simply assume that people are bad, but we must go through a process to prove that they are. I do not oppose immigration, but it must be done moderately in the sense of not just letting people walk in when they want and what with they want.

There's no other way to resolve illegal immigration crisis. We need to stop them at the boarder, and detain and deport those who enter the country illegally.

 @B6XT2LY from West Virginia  agreed…1wk1W

If you came here from a different country to live a better life and you followed every rule except coming in illegally how would you feel? Getting into a country legally takes years. The process needs to be shorter.

 @B6XNLMD from Texas  agreed…1wk1W

Deporting immigrants should not be a law. This is unfair, immigrants should not live with fear while they are trying to go work for better opportunities. Immigrants make America better.

In a way I agree with your statement, as someone who has immigrant relatives I am aware of the few bad ones who come to this country and do nothing but stain the name of immigrants in a bad light. However, I believe that it is not because they are immigrants that they act the way they do, but rather are just that way whether they're illegal or not and because of racism people tend to point the blame that they are illegal is the cause of crimes. I definitely agree with the fact that many immigrants come here for a better life and as someone who has seen this dream come true and is now being ripped away is something so sad that no human should have to deal with.

 @B6QMDRL from Ohio  disagreed…3wks3W

Not EVERY illegal immigrant should be turned over to the federal authorities and deported because not every illegal immigrant commits crimes

"not every illegal immigrant commits crimes" is self contradictory. You broke the nations law (commiting a crime) by improperly enting the country. Correct me if i am wrong.

 @9G9TKYF from Missouri  disagreed…2yrs2Y

Not all immigrants are involved with crime and are only looking for new opportunities to support their families and themselves. Instead, they should provide fair trial and investigation to then consider whether or not they should be deported, and if not, they should get a chance to live in America because they haven't done anything wrong but work hard and hope for a better future.

 @NationalGuy47  from Utah  disagreed…8mos8MO

all illegal are most certainly involved with crime because coming here illegally is a crime, and that is not supporting their families by doing illegal stuff.

 @B72J75M from California  disagreed…6 days6D

no,They should not be turned in as they have come over to live a better and happy life why take that from them and their family.

 @B6YJM8L from New Hampshire  disagreed…1wk1W

America is a country built on stolen land. Many immigrants aren't bad people either, only a select few put a bad rep on it. Most are hard workers who escaped bad living conditions hoping for a peaceful and prosperous life, not to stir trouble.

 @ISIDEWITHDiscuss this answer...12yrs12Y

No, too many non-violent immigrants are being deported

 @9FQ6Y66 from South Dakota  agreed…2yrs2Y

It is largely our own actions which have created the "border crisis." Above, I noted the ways in which we created conditions in "source" countries which have led to the migrations we're seeing. Also, we haven't properly funded immigration courts so that they can act on cases expeditiously. When someone lives in this country for years waiting for a court date, it should not be surprising that removing them at this point would be hugely disruptive to the deported person, his/her family, and often his/her US community. None of that is the fault of the immigrants.

Why would America want to ban potential citizens from our beloved country? if our country was originally brought up my immigrants why is the country all of a sudden against it?

  @HelcovichEmireRepublican from Maryland  disagreed…4mos4MO

We aren't against immigration, we're against ILLEGAL immigration. Get your facts straight! Immigration can be done legally, but they're doing it ILLEGALLY.

 @B6YM45X from Nevada  agreed…1wk1W

Too many non Violent immigrants are being deported rather than actual criminals, ice is doing raids on factory's, fields, and work sites where immigrants are working labor so that they could provide a living for their family's

 @B6XT73SAmerica from Alabama  disagreed…1wk1W

Deportation simply shouldn't be for violent crimes. Things like drugs, cartels, and illegals in general. While yes, some are violent,

 @ISIDEWITHDiscuss this answer...12yrs12Y

No, only if they are convicted of a violent crime

 @B6SJBV8 from Texas  agreed…2wks2W

Most of the immigrants that come to this country arrive just to give their family a better life, they pay taxes and contribute to the economy by attending their job, yet several are deported just because they were not born in this land and not due to any crime commited.

 @B6NCX22Independent  from Missouri  agreed…4wks4W

The majority of immigrants are here to work only to have a better life or to provide a better life to their kids, it was only when Biden had an open border policy that we saw illegal immigrants (especially Venezuelans, unfortunately, since I myself am one) commit crimes and it wasn't all of them, it was just a few one of them. It just feels like we are turning the blame towards illegal immigrants for everything when 99% of us are here to work.

 @9TNCM45 from California  answered…1yr1Y

Yes

Yes, the punishment for illegal immigration should be execution.

A one week amnesty chance where they will simply be deported to their country of origin first. Should they not take this benevolent opportunity, a few executions to show we're serious should be enough to convince most to leave of their own accord. Exceptions for victims of human trafficking, where deportation is acceptable.

  @Patriot-#1776Constitution from Washington  commented…1yr1Y

Execute human traffickers, gang leaders, and drug cartel members as examples – draw and quarter them and put their heads on spears in public places. If we want to stop crime, we have to be willing to do what it takes to stop crime. We must strike terror into criminals' hearts and show them we mean business

  @HelcovichEmireRepublican from Maryland  commented…4mos4MO

Only if you can prove they've actually killed someone. If not, then death is never justified.

  @HelcovichEmireRepublican from Maryland  commented…4mos4MO

We should build a giant wall on the southern border and put sniper towers on it! Like a prison, think of Mexico as a big prison, we gotta keep them border hoppers from hopping our border.

 @8MCNGGC from Virginia  answered…5yrs5Y

I think that it is only fair for illegal immigrants involved in minor crimes to be referred to authorities.

 @9DYQYY7Libertarian  from Arizona  answered…2yrs2Y

If someone commits a crime which falls under State jurisdiction due to it's nature, then it should be handled by the State. If it is a federal crime, then it should be prosecuted by the federal government. But a persons immigration status, while it can be a federal offense, should have no impact on the fair trial or treatment of the accused simply.

 @AnteaterLaylaRepublicanfrom Texas  asked…2yrs2Y

Would you then suggest a different approach for local law enforcement when they encounter individuals with uncertain immigration status? Or do you believe that the existing systems in place adequately address this issue?

 @9GZDTYYIndependent from Maryland  answered…2yrs2Y

Yes, local law enforcement should be allowed to transfer immigrants to federal immigration authorities no matter what crime if they were found to be illegal

 @Brandonnoe84Libertarian  from Colorado  answered…8mos8MO

Yes, illegal immigrants should be handed over to federal authorities and deported but there should be a simple path to citizenship for illegal immigrants with no criminal record.

 @9H4V8MF from Arizona  answered…2yrs2Y

No, only if convicted of a violent crime. Law enforcement should have the ability to report to the federal government but not detain them

 @8NKN247from Maine  answered…5yrs5Y

they should have another chance and pay close attention to them and if it doesn't work then they should be deported.

 @B5SP8JR from Rhode Island  answered…3mos3MO

The illegality of their immigration is another issue than what they are there for, consider where they are in the citizenship process

 @8LQTFM7 from Massachusetts  answered…5yrs5Y

I think "deported" is a strong word and they should be put in jail like everyone else.

 @8LR3WX9Constitution from Texas  answered…5yrs5Y

Crime-committing illegal immigrants should be detained and deported, however, make it official with the entire deported's family on which country they need to choose to stay in for the rest of their citizenship

 @9FK25GX from Connecticut  answered…2yrs2Y

No and abolish the police and ICE

  @9CJ6CB6 from Virginia  commented…2yrs2Y

Okay, ICE I can understand, but destroying the police without drastic social changes we’d be unprepared. Work to make the police force less on the violent side, replace some of them with social workers and reduce qualified immunity. Lord needs to be done, but cold abolition is a really bad idea right now.

 @8W5HJMCWorkers from Florida  answered…4yrs4Y

it depends on the crime if it causes mental problems to the victim in the future then yes if not then they should have mandatory community service but in the case of a violent crime then they should be convicted

 @8LS2JK9 from Connecticut  answered…5yrs5Y

Yes, as they are not citizens here they should be more aware of their actions.

Illegal immigrants should work towards gaining their citizenship. This is a hard process, but in order to live in this country one should have legal citizenship. However, one cannot come into this country illegally and expect to get away with minor crimes. They should be punished justly according to the constitution, this may include deportation. However, it is a definite deportation for larger crimes, or a higher punishment for crimes such as rape or murder.

 @B6XN8BB from West Virginia  answered…1wk1W

I think that if they are a citizen who has proof and lives in the US that they should be left alone but if they just came into the country with no citizenship and are causing problems that they should be deported.

 @8WWR9F2 from Texas  answered…4yrs4Y

No, only if they are convicted of a violent crime, and too many non-violent immigrants are being deported

 @B74KV8W from Michigan  answered…3 days3D

If you commit a crime you have to pay for the consequences, but there can't be injustice in those consequences

 @B74D4DF from Georgia  answered…3 days3D

If the crime involves them protecting their family then they should be left alone,but stealing for no reason or to harm,they should be deported.

 @B74C3TC from Texas  answered…3 days3D

only if the crime is repeated and they are not paying taxes or fulfilling their civic responsibilities as an American citizen.

 @B74993N from Ohio  answered…3 days3D

I think illegal immigrants should be taken and put in the U.S jail for a minor crime. However if it's a big violent, murderous crime then they should be arrested and deported to their countries jail.

 @B747WW2 from Connecticut  answered…3 days3D

No, too many non-violent immigrants are being deported. The ones being detained should only be if they committed a violent crime.

 @B743XRWIndependent from Louisiana  answered…3 days3D

Minor crimes is a pretty blanket statement for a nuanced issue. I agree that if they are convicted of crimes that actually have a physical, mental, or financial impact on other people they should be deported.

 @B73Y78V from Virginia  answered…4 days4D

Yes as long as it is done with the proper treatment of the immigrants and they are actually convicted of a crime.

 @B73V3WH from Illinois  answered…4 days4D

If they invade to do bad things they should be deported but if they are trying to escape a bad life and need protection they should stay and get supportive help

 @B73JBNJ from Virginia  answered…5 days5D

yes, they should be allowed, but they should not even be wasting time and resources deporting non-violent illegal immigrants to begin with in my opinion

 @B73DHGFSocialist from Ohio  answered…5 days5D

Depends on what is considered a minor crime. I would only say yes if the crime hurts others in any way. Ex. Speeding or traffic violations should not count.

 @B73CGVBProgressive from Washington  answered…5 days5D

no, only illegal immigrants who have broken other laws in the United States or their country of origin besides immigrating illegally

 @B72ZBKM from Tennessee  answered…5 days5D

If they are actively pursuing legal status they should be allowed to stay but deported if crime is violent.

 @B72QTQY from New York  answered…6 days6D

I think there should be more of a focus on violent crimes committed by illegal immigrants for the time being. However at some point the minor crimes will need to be addressed.

 @B72Q9JN from New York  answered…6 days6D

Yes I believe the should be turned over, but not deported in every instance. There should be some sort of investigation determining whether they are a criminal or a threat to the U.S. or not

 @B72MCJKConstitution from Alabama  answered…6 days6D

yes, immigrants should be held accountable for crimes just as well as us. They should not be deported because of it , I think it should be a way to help them get legal through the courts , because you never know what a person was running from nor what they went through to get here to feel safe.

 @B72KY7L from Pennsylvania  answered…6 days6D

If illegal immigrants are contributing to society, making friends, and supporting their family, they can stay here as long as they wish.

 @B72KGQT from Maine  answered…6 days6D

no bc in our pledge it says "one Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all" whites get away with a lot of small crimes but if an illegal does one small crime they get years of prison?

 @B72FN53 from Nevada  answered…6 days6D

I think there should be a small and easy process to help immigrants become American citizens. Especially immigrants with families.

 @B72F285 from Illinois  answered…6 days6D

No, non-violent illegal immigrants in the process of getting their citizenship should not be deported. Violent Illegal Immigrants should be.

 @B72DG6P from New York  answered…6 days6D

No, acording to the 14th amendment anyone conviced of a crime should be granted due process. Federal immagrant autorities should be the resort after conviction.

 @B72B9W6 from South Carolina  answered…6 days6D

yes but only if it is a repeated offence that they haven't stopped. violent crimes should get them deported though

 @B729SDBanswered…6 days6D

I think it depends on the situation. It's not as simple as just deporting an illegal immigrant, there are circumstances that need to be taken into consideration.

 @B728T2HIndependent  from Indiana  answered…6 days6D

Yes , but only if local law enforcement already has said illegal immigrants in their custody and has verified they are in fact an illegal immigrant.

 @B728QR2 from Massachusetts  answered…6 days6D

Yes, but if it is a simple traffic stop, or another mild warning, they should not be detained but reported to federal authorities.

 @B6ZZPKJ from Louisiana  answered…7 days7D

I believe they should have a set amount of time to get their papers but if found after that time should be put in prison for a year and should have to pay a fine then be deported

 @B6ZKSXG from Kentucky  answered…7 days7D

As long as they’re contributing to the economy aka paying taxes then no , but living here as a freeloader I think they should be deported

 @B6ZG9LC from Texas  answered…7 days7D

No because they're being detained for their minor crime and not the fact that they are an illegal immigrant; therefore, not having probable cause to turn them into federal immigration authorities.

 @B6ZG6FS from Virginia  answered…7 days7D

yes, and the severity of the offense should be taken into account when considering deportation or whether you can put the individual into a process to gain citizenship

 @B6ZBG7P from Texas  answered…1wk1W

Depending on their record, if they have a crime that IS only felon, they should be convicted. If they are overloaded with tickets, small records. they should not be convicted.

 @B6Z8C8F from Virginia  answered…1wk1W

no they should give them warnings and tell them that they have to immigrate and give them a certain amount of time to all this like a month or 2 or a year then if they don't do these things then they have to leave and if they don't then kick them out

 @B6Z2NPXIndependent from New York  answered…1wk1W

Yes, unless they were authorized during Biden's presidency. Then, the families wouldn't be at fault. And shouldn't be deported back.

 @B6Z2GFJWomen’s Equality from Oregon  answered…1wk1W

I think they should not be imported but consequences for their actions and have to become a legal citizen.

 @B6Z222J from New York  answered…1wk1W

I feel that no one should be here illegally, but if they are already here then they should not be turned over for minor crimes as long as they are not a threat. Instead maybe some government assistance to help them become a legal citizen of the US

 @B6YZXYJ  from Connecticut  answered…1wk1W

Yes, and the circumstance should be reviewed fairly and respectfully for each case. If warranted (same as bail judgements) release them back to their families or life until said court hearings or judgements are finalized.

 @B6YYX6L from California  answered…1wk1W

For minor crimes, they should be treated as a normal person: spending the required time in jail for the crime they committed.

 @B6YTB27 from Florida  answered…1wk1W

It’s tricky with how to deal with the illegals already in the country. I want more money being spent to let people in legally, but in the meantime we might have to deport them first, so we know who is in the country.

 @B6YS4QBProgressive from Missouri  answered…1wk1W

If the crime being committed calls for them to be detained, and it is learned that they aren't a citizen, then they should be transferred to the proper authorities for that issue

 @B6YP3JD from Texas  answered…1wk1W

i think they should worry more about the violent ones, i know they are "illegal" to be here but it really just depends on the crime for me

 @B6YMNCN from Florida  answered…1wk1W

No, unless it is an excessive amount, they should have the same punishment as citizens for crimes they commit and should be guided down the path of getting legalized.

 @B6YH2GDDemocrat from Minnesota  answered…1wk1W

No, they should only be sent over to the feds if they have done something very wrong, like rape and murder. I think that way too many innocent immigrants are being arrested and deported, and they aren't even being offered due process/trial.

 @B6YDQY2 from Virginia  answered…1wk1W

Yes, a crime is a crime being an immigrant doesn't remove responsibility the same as a legal citizen would go to jail.

 @B6Y9CP2Democrat from Pennsylvania  answered…1wk1W

Yes, and charged for their crimes, but they should be sentenced to a civil American prison, work for their room and meal, or be deported, and also allowed to work towards citizenship during their containment.

 @B6Y2KCY from Minnesota  answered…1wk1W

if they are causing harm to people or a repated commiter of crimie and is actalluy hurting us then yes

 @B6XQ7ZGIndependent from Georgia  answered…1wk1W

Illegal immigrants should get a chance to actually follow the process and become legal. If they can't at the very least they shouldn't be used as an example to compare to other illegal immigrants. The view of immigrants is so bad right now that people don't even care if you are legal.

 @B6XNLKD from Kansas  answered…1wk1W

No one should commit a crime anyway, if they get caught that's on them, what happens next is their fault for committed a crime in the first place. IN MY OPINION

 @B6XMNZL from Ohio  answered…1wk1W

Depending on which crime yes, but if it's something like jaywalking or speeding they shouldn't be deported.

 @B6XLQNL from Pennsylvania  answered…1wk1W

No, only if they are convicted of a violent crime and there’s too many innocent non-violent immigrants that are getting deported.

 @B6XJK95 from Virginia  answered…1wk1W

Yes, only after doing a thorough investigation and making sure they aren't a major threat to public safety.
