Depending on the belief, i would mentally challenge what it is saying, I would defend my own belief to myself, so I can think clearly about what I believe.
@9H8RSVR5mos5MO
I believe that an individual is able to prove their point without degrading another persons views and opinions. When you are trying to persuade someone it’s way more convincing to prove your points rather than say the other person is wrong the whole time.
@9H85H4T6mos6MO
Just because I believe something, doesn't mean everyone else does and because free speech is a thing, anyone can oppose my beliefs at any time. Therefore a satirical piece that challenges a strong belief would leave me unbothered.
@9H8HPPT6mos6MO
I try to take it with a grain of salt. It is a satire so I can't be too upset that I chose to read the piece and expected it to be of my beliefs. Though, I do hope it's done in good taste and not just something to get clout. I hope it provides a valid opinion in at least some way.
@9H8MP2MRepublican5mos5MO
Depends on the quality of the piece. If its good, then appreciative. If its garbage, laughter at the failed attempt.
@9H8TZNH5mos5MO
Respect their beliefs but make it clear that you have your own
@9H8R67Q5mos5MO
It's satire and therefore shall not be taken as if it were a serious piece. That's what someone made for entertainment and will be approached as such.
@9H8SBXX5mos5MO
It depends on how the satirical piece was done, was it offensive or was it for the sole purpose of being ironic and light-hearted.
@9H84WPK6mos6MO
Satire is a very useful tool in providing incite on certain topics but should be handled delicately
@9H9BTLV5mos5MO
I think on some instinctual level of my brain bred into me over generations of evolution I would be upset, but on a logical level I would consider the point it is trying to make.
I think all opinions matter, so I would read and try to understand the satire and other peoples opinions and values.
If the satire made you think differently, shouldn't that be worth exploring yourself? If you still feel like you are in the right after that exploration, brush it off.
@9H9DY9G5mos5MO
Everyone is entitled to there opinion. Evne though the satirical piece can be hurtful, you just have to ignore the hate and continue believing what you want to believe.
@9H8QG7N5mos5MO
I would say that some sacrifices will take some beliefs from you and make you have some beliefs.
@9HBGHD9Libertarian5mos5MO
Satire is meant to ridicule itself. to exaggerate in irony to challenge beliefs or precedents. If it either offends me, or is very humorous, it does it's job. When it pushes the line of malice and discrimination, that is where it gets pushy. Satire making fun of conservatism or democracy is fine. Satire making fun of a situation of rape, hate crimes, or even terrorism with the ill pointed at the victims to regulate malicious hateful beliefs? That is where the line should be drawn. In connections with myself, I try to keep an open mind regardless, but anything with the above, is where I don't consider it.
@9H9CHJQ5mos5MO
It would likely be a negative reaction since that "joke" could influence others to actually believe whatever satirical statement is being said.
I believe that it is entitely okay as long as they have boundries
@9H7G3MT6mos6MO
I’ll see if it makes any god points I hadn’t considered.
@9H85SLF6mos6MO
my reaction is usually dull, they aren't in control of that belief, if the satirical remark is made by a figure then I would get upset, but if it's from a guy who has no value to the topic then I don't care.
@9H87ZKL6mos6MO
Satire is often used to point out inconsistencies or ridiculous parts of arguments or people but at the same time makes a mockery of them. If one of my deeply held beliefs were exposed to satire, I would be quite offended for the other person making fun of me and not treating me with the dignity that is expected in discussions of serious topics involving very strong beliefs.
@9H8PWQHRepublican5mos5MO
I would be offended if someone ridiculed my religious beliefs because I would feel sorry for my God.
@9H98XNB5mos5MO
My reaction to a satirical piece that may challenge a belief of mine, would frustrate me. But I have and understanding that not everyone has the same beliefs as me so there is nothing I could personally do about it.
@9H9DXHKRepublican5mos5MO
I would hold my point and try to debate and prove my point.
I can't name one off the top of my head but there are many reactionary comedians who attempt to challenge my views all be it in an ignorant way
@9H87KKG6mos6MO
Satire is a very useful tool in providing incite on certain topics but should be handled delicately
@9H9FHHV5mos5MO
Do not force it upon people, they must make that decision themselves.
@9H8C9W86mos6MO
I enjoy a new point of view, even if it challenges mine.
