In the 2010 Supreme Court case Citizens United vs FEC, court ruled that the free speech clause of the First Amendment prohibited the government from restricting independent expenditures for political campaigns by corporations, including nonprofit corporations, labor unions, and other associations. The court’s landmark decision overturned the Bipartisan Campaign Reform Act of 2002, also known as “McCain-Feingold.” That law had prohibited unregulated contributions to national political parties and limited the use of corporate and union money to fund advertisements discussing political issues within 60 days of a general election.

As we move into the future, the 2 major political parties in the US have become increasingly more extremist and further divided; leaving many Americans left to support the "lesser of 2 evils". In order to evolve the political landscape and insure that our political system doesn't become a slave to corporate interest, funding should be capped, and limited to public funding only. A tax incentive can be given to every legally registered voter that will allow every individual the ability to fund the party of their choice.
@8G4FHKL4yrs4Y
Yes, but make all members wear Nascar style jackets that display their funding.
@99P7TMR1yr1Y
Yes but they should be prohibited from gaining political influence for the donations
@VulcanMan6 1yr1Y
What exactly do you think lobbying is?
@9L4Z23BIndependent 1wk1W
Yes, corporations, union, and non-profit organizations deserve to have their interests represented in the government as well
@9L4V63S2mos2MO
Corporations and unions should be allowed to donate to political parties, but non-profits should not.
@9L4R9YCRepublican2mos2MO
I think that there should be a limit on the amount they can donate. I think only unions and nonprofits should be allowed to donate since it can turn into bribery.
@9KYSNTJRepublican2mos2MO
if the places are donating and it is being publicly announced it shows everyone the stance of the company and their beliefs
@9HR7GNT5mos5MO
Abolish all campaign funding especially from organizations because organizations don't vote, people do. It's not a group activity.
@9HQX7FB5mos5MO
I support corporations and unions donating to political parties. I do not support non-profit organizations donating to anything, at all.
@9HPGS695mos5MO
No cause this would be lobbying votes or the interests of political parties to align with their own.
@9HNJGF85mos5MO
If political parties continue to be formally recognized in elected offices and on ballots, then no. If they are finally removed from formal state recognition, then yes.
@9HF8CR26mos6MO
The amounts being donated to campaigns are getting way out of control. There should be a cap and transparency. The cap should also be on those donating can only donate a certain amount per year so a billionaire can’t give to several different organizations.
@9HD732X6mos6MO
No, the Union is given the privilege of representing the workers to their industry not a political faction.
@9HCRPFYRepublican6mos6MO
Yes. They are all comprised of people who join together to have a stronger voice. Contributions should be reported monthly, rather than quarterly, and greater transparency should be occur for voters to have access to the information regarding who contributes to which campaign, and how much, including contributions to the national parties.
@9HBZSD46mos6MO
No, political donations should be limited to individuals only. Corporations, unions, and non-profit organizations are not individuals and should not be able to make political donations.
@9H8HKKD6mos6MO
Yes, only unions and non-profits should be able to donate and only if they are donated in order to support their cause that they are there for .
@9GZJC3C6mos6MO
depending on what they want out of this ''donation'' from them if it's selfish then no if it's just to help them then sure
@9GSLXJMRepublican6mos6MO
Yes because limiting or banning such donations violates the 1st Amendment's guarantee of free speech.
@9C4MP3Z12mos12MO
Doação só de pessoas físicas.
@9C47GYW12mos12MO
Donations only if the donor can vote.
@9C2W4QR1yr1Y
Corporations should but it shouldn't be tax deductible. Unions should be allowed to. Non-profit organizations should not be able to donate.
@9BQ4W5YIndependent1yr1Y
Yes, but limit the amount they donate, and apply the same rules to corporate donors as to individual donors.
@9B9WG7D1yr1Y
Yes, but they should publicly report each donation at the time of the donation.
@99VCJGT1yr1Y
Yes, but their donations should be subject to the same limits as individuals.
@99TNRHQ1yr1Y
Corporations, no. Unions and non-profits, yes.
Yes, but not collectively only individually.
Yes, but with very very very strict restrictions with a limit
@99SBTDX1yr1Y
They are being abused to make a profit for politicians and should be limited and watched over by an independent and non-politicized part of gov. like the judicial branch.
@99L57BC1yr1Y
No, non-profits are called non-profits for a reason, however companies and unions can donate
@97WHH2Y2yrs2Y
It depends on if the non profit or the corporation has anything to do with politics but otherwise, no
@97SZ2QN2yrs2Y
