A flag can stand for the historical values of the country it represents, the people who died to protect it, or both.
@9K99Q683mos3MO
The flag that represents a country that doesn’t care about my rights or my life, as a woman, does not shape my identity in any way.
@Name-IrrelevantConstitution3mos3MO
That's the good thing about America. If you disagree, there's no mandate to let it shape your identity. It just stands for the values of the country as a whole, and/or those who died to protect it.
@9K8ZHZX3mos3MO
They represent your beliefs and nationality. The U.S. is a great example because you know we stand for freedom and liberty.
@9K8LB8G3mos3MO
Being a first-generation American in my family has shown me the vast differences in cultures between other nationalities. Personally, I've never cared for being patriotic in any way but I am proud of who I am and the culture I take part in as an American.
@9K8YP8T3mos3MO
It gives a sense of nationality and citizenship. Represents home. It gives a sense of identity as much as race, culture, and ethnicity. It does not reflect me as a person, it is just a title. To be an American, does not mean a white person.
@9K8MY833mos3MO
Such actions or symbols of liberty signifies the greatness of our nation and how we have grown stronger and allied with one another.
@9KBRSHV3mos3MO
The flag shows us how far we come, and that we have found new places and with that came more people, cities, states, and new ideas, etc.
@9K8QN7D3mos3MO
National anthem - good anthem but a little bit hard to sìng
Flag - the identity of the country and I'm proud to be American
@9KFCD8J3mos3MO
The national anthem is a symbol of our nation's strength and pride. I respect the national anthem and its symbolism in America. The same argument goes for the national flag.

It reminds me more of what this country should be ashamed of
@9KDCCHT 3mos3MO
To me, in the current climate, patriotism is most often associated with the radical right and Christian nationalism- two groups that I do not want to be associated with at all. I am ashamed at the state of this country. So seeing it’s flag brings me sadness.
@9K8N46Z3mos3MO
I don't really have much of an opinion on this topic.
@9KD5XDD3mos3MO
Patriotisms is defined by how we view these symbols and rituals. The last country to force school children to recite their national anthem everyday was Nazi Germany in order to instill moral ties to the country. Also the USA flag is flown everywhere so when a person looks around them in the world to shape their identity they will see and be influenced by the USA flag.
It's nice to be American, but America's values are changing, and that makes me feel less patriotic due to its Pro-war in Palestine ideals.

símbolos nacionales, idioma, historia de la nación, conciencia nacional y artefactos culturales
@9K8LDKV3mos3MO
It is what my country stands for and it is something I need to respect.
@9K8RV453mos3MO
They are tradition but for me, they sometimes don't hold the promises they represent.
@9K8PTCD3mos3MO
National symbols don't mean much to me. I see the meaning as a tribute people that have served for the country but for me it doesn't really shape my identity.
@9K8P452Independent3mos3MO
Because the national anthem and the American flag are all encompassing, one nation under God” that all men are created equal.
@9K8NDD83mos3MO
I was born in the USA and I'm patriotic even though we have a long way to go to fulfill our promise as the leader of the world.
@9K8MP933mos3MO
National symbols don't really mean much to me. I never really thought about it deeply.
@9K8M82YRepublican3mos3MO
They are a way to represent the nation. They show are appreciation and respect for our home and land.
@9K92S483mos3MO
I think that the flag makes me feel grateful for everything that people have done to shape what the flag represents which is freedom.
@9K8Z3VNWomen’s Equality3mos3MO
They are something I am proud to be associated with.
@9K8PGKN3mos3MO
The flag represents the good, bad, horrific, and fantastic moments of our country. I should be respected and honored.
@9K8VPPN3mos3MO
They are not of great significance to me and do not shape my identity
@9K8YJXNRepublican3mos3MO
they make me more proud to be in the country that I live in but I am not an American but an immigrant.
@9K8SJT7Republican3mos3MO
I think the flag and anthem are important, especially because my dad is a firefighter, and honoring our country and those who keep safe is something that is of great significance to me.
@9K92KF3Peace and Freedom3mos3MO
It’s not a big thing for me but I support it and have nothing against it
@9K8Y4C53mos3MO
I feel like they mean that we have overcome so much and that when united, we can and will be the strongest country and force in the world.
