Yes

This should be a requirement because there are many students with disabilities, mental health issues, personality disorders, and physical differences. Teachers and faculty need to be train on how to deal with these kinds of student so they can handle the situation and student in the best way possible.

 @9FMJMB9Republican from Missouri disagreed…8mos8MO

If your trained in diversity is just showing kids that there being treated differently because of gender and race.

 @9H5K3DB from Hawaii agreed…6mos6MO

Statistics show that students and teacher of the same race connect better and create a better enviorment for thoose around them.

 @9GWL9R4 from Arizona disagreed…7mos7MO

Teachers and faculty are entitled to their beliefs. They should not be accused of being inherently racist. That is offensive in its own right. The training should be optional but not forced on faculty.

Teachers and faculty need to have diversity training so they can deal with students that are different.

America is such a huge and diverse place I think we encounter very many people other than ours and I think teachers should be able to at least understand Spanish or small parts of it and be able to understand and be able to acknowledge other students of other parts of culture or be willing to learn.

 @9FPMD5H from Texas agreed…8mos8MO

I would throw up statistics that teachers are only making around $50,000 a year and that they end up working longer hours than a lot of office jobs between tutoring and then if they sponsor an organization or coaching a sport. All of this time and then you have to add a whole day that is specifically for this training for a group of people who already have to deal with so much crap and being underpaid on top of everything.

 @9H5K3DB from Hawaii disagreed…6mos6MO

Many people say they do but they dont because in college and most high school classes they teach while in class.

They should all attend training so they can all have the abilities to do the same thing and when they need to do it. Also it wont limit the amount of people.

 @9LSPH6S from Idaho disagreed…1mo1MO

Diversity training would help clear ignorance and also provide as a guide to see who should be allowed in a teaching position. Providing this training also helps children, parents, etc. to feel secure that they won’t experience discrimination.

 @ISIDEWITHDiscuss this answer...1yr1Y

No, only private schools should be allowed to require mandatory training

DT is racist

Diversity training is systemically racist against white people.

Voluntary DT can be permitted, but Mandatory DT should be banned as unconstitutional.

 @WornoutTacosSocialist from Texas disagreed…8mos8MO

It's essential to remember that diversity training aims to foster understanding and respect among different races, not to favor one over another. It's akin to the classic schoolyard lesson of treating others the way you'd like to be treated.

For instance, consider a kaleidoscope, a favorite childhood toy for many of us. Each piece within it is unique, different in shape and color. When seen in isolation, these pieces may not seem special. But when they come together, they create a beautiful, intricate pattern that is a joy to behold. This is the essence of diversity training…  Read more

Yes because schools are about learning more. Understanding diverse perspectives seems to be one of the core missions of schools.

Encourage diversity, but if you have to tell your employees not to be racist, they shouldn't be employees.

 @9F56K6ZLibertarian from Utah answered…9mos9MO

No, the trainings should be banned as they lead to more prejudice.

  @VulcanMan6  from Kansas commented…9mos9MO

How so? This would only ever be an issue to people with bigoted beliefs.

 @9MTZNC4 from North Carolina answered…4 days4D

Yes, but only if the priority is on racial cooperation and understanding and not on teaching that one race is more privileged or disadvantaged compared to another

 @9MRVDQD from Pennsylvania answered…5 days5D

Yes, and all staff that commit acts of discrimination should get a warning and if they get three warnings or so, they should be fired.

 @9L4Z23BIndependent  from Pennsylvania answered…2wks2W

Yes, but only if they are private schools. If they receive public funding, they should not be required

 @9MFBRSL from North Carolina answered…2wks2W

Yes, but only if such training focuses on racial cooperation and understanding rather than critical race theory

 @9MDD3XT from Texas answered…2wks2W

Yes, but only required in public schools and reinforcment/discipline given for infraction. Private schools should be incentivized for diversity efforts and schools that do not choose to not penalized, but not subsidized.

 @9MC5XW7  from Michigan answered…3wks3W

Diversity training should be included just like any other part of training, but it shouldn't be any more significant than the rest.

 @9M6RJRFIndependentfrom Maine answered…3wks3W

Circumstantial. Everyone should be made aware of the potential of discrimination and how to prevent it

 @9M2KMKV from Texas answered…4wks4W

No, training should not have to be required; teachers and faculty should either present diversity or not be hired

 @9LM732Q from Maryland answered…1mo1MO

No, diversity training should be encouraged but not required unless a faculty member commits acts of prejudice. Only private schools should be allowed to require mandatory training otherwise.

 @9L6ZYQN from New Hampshire answered…2mos2MO

I think schools should have the option to require diversity training for teachers and faculty. It can help promote inclusivity and understanding in the educational setting. However, it's also important to consider individual perspectives and ensure that the training is effective and respectful of personal beliefs.

  @JSlinky21  from Florida answered…2mos2MO

Yes, but the training should serve as a general reminder regarding the scope of student diversity, such as age, race, culture, religion, household, mental health, class, etc. - not simply focus on race or culture.

 @9KVVV5LRepublican  from Michigan answered…3mos3MO

Being what the U.S. calls an Asian American I don't think diversity should be spread, it hasn't done anything for me besides making me feel guilty just because I look different makes me "special"

 @9KJJ5W5 from Oklahoma answered…3mos3MO

Yes, diversity training is learning about people who are different from you, you do t have to agree but you need to understand their beliefs and be respectful

 @9KDPB45Libertarian from Florida answered…3mos3MO

This is not an issue for federal law. We already have laws in place to deal with discrimination. This is a matter to be decided by local governments or school boards- not federal law.

 @9KCW6DM  from Illinois answered…3mos3MO

Focusing on diversity is more racist than not, often pushing people to be more diverse means they hire people not on merit but on factors to fill a quota. Race shouldn't be a qualifier nor should is be a disqualifier

 @9JW87V6 from North Carolina answered…4mos4MO

Yes, but only if the focus is on racial cooperation and understanding instead of critical race theory

 @9JPJ5CR from New Hampshire answered…4mos4MO

Yes, It is important to apreciate other cultures but should not take priority over scholarly subjects. Having small units or fairs would be a good way to learn without making people upset.
