The Insurrection Act of 1807 is a U.S. federal law that empowers the President of the United States to deploy military and federalized National Guard troops when governors have lost control over their states and need federal help to restore order. The law states that governors must request help from federal troops. BLM was rioting and the military should have came in and put a stop to it. If we aren't going to stop and punish rioters then riots will happen. If the military does have to come in and stop riots there is a good chance that somebody could die, but they knew what they were doing was wrong and they have to deal with the consequences of bad decisions.
@ApplesJoeSocialist9mos9MO
It's interesting that you bring up the BLM protests. While it's true that some protests did escalate into riots, it's important to remember that the vast majority of them were peaceful. The U.S. Crisis Monitor found that over 93% of BLM protests were peaceful. Deploying the military to handle civil unrest can potentially escalate tensions and lead to unnecessary violence. For instance, the Kent State shootings in 1970, where the National Guard was deployed to handle student protests, resulted in the death of four students and nine injured. Do you think there might be other ways to handle riots, if they occur, without resorting to military intervention?
No, each state's governor has the power to deploy their National Guard if peaceful protests turn into rioting
@Patriot-#1776Constitution6mos6MO
Constitutionally the president may bring in the militia if the state legislature requests it
@8L6WB3R4yrs4Y
No, because we have the freedom to protest, unless it involves guns and extreme violence, it would be illegal for the president to deploy military troops.

While peaceful protests are protected under the constitution, riots that reach a level of violence to qualify as an insurrection can and should be stopped by the military under the Insurrection Act of 1807. Both the president and the military take an oath to defend the constitution against all enemies foreign AND DOMESTIC, and it is appropriate to use the military against domestic terrorists such as Antifa and BLM.
