The United States and coalition forces invaded Afghanistan in 2001 after the September 11 terror attacks. After the attacks, U.S. intelligence officials determined that the Afghani-based militant organization Al-Qaeda was responsible. In 2001 90% of Afghanistan was controlled by the Sunni Islamic military organization The Taliban. After the Taliban refused requests by U.S. President George W. Bush to dismantle Al-Qaeda the U.S. launched military operations known as Operation Enduring Freedom. As of June 27, 2019 2,419 U.S. troops have died in the conflict.
@8XB8NH53yrs3Y
Yes, however, Biden's botched withdrawal is the best example of how NOT to do it.
@8X95KPYIndependent3yrs3Y
Yes, but it should have been done in a better manner that did not result in leaving equipment in the rush to leave
@8QW3YH5Republican3yrs3Y
@8FF8RJS4yrs4Y
Yes, but pulling out needs to be done carefully. Civilians should be polled by US forces to assist in the formation of a stable government of their choosing, not the United States installing a leader that the civilians of Afghanistan disprove of.
@8XH56DM3yrs3Y
Yes but it needs an actual plan to get out without hurting allies and people that relied on us during that time
@8XDFFD83yrs3Y
Yes, well we pulled the majority of troops out. But we should have had a better exit strategy.
@cfa30023yrs3Y
Yes, but only after all citizens are brought home safely
@8VNLLX43yrs3Y
yes but do it the right way and not rush it or do it all at once
@8VN2B9GIndependent3yrs3Y
Yes, but with careful strategic plans to extract all who are Americans or Allies.
@8R399VF3yrs3Y
I believe that we should limit our involvement in wars that we don't have any part in, for there are many complications on either side. We could be harming innocents and worsening violence based on issues we only have a shallow understanding on, such as conflicts based on communism and oil. However, I do think that we should come together and prevent situations and protect people where injustice and crimes against human rights are being violated.
@8R34KH33yrs3Y
The majority with a skeleton crew to support peaceful transition, etc.
@8TMRXHH3yrs3Y
Yes, but keep intelligence and special forces to monitor and ensure that terrorist groups don't dominate the country and region and ensure that they are unable to plan an attack on the US and or its allies.
@8QKL2GZ3yrs3Y
No, but drastically decrease our presence there
@8Y2TKH62yrs2Y
Yes, but do it slowly over time
@8Y2SYFWNatural Law2yrs2Y
Maintain small garrison to ensure stability, Keep Bagram AFB.
@8Y2SD2D2yrs2Y
Yes, and our military should conduct targeted missile strikes and drone strikes in Afghanistan in oder to kill our enemies.
@8Y2S6D22yrs2Y
Yes, a country who seeks aid but refuses to fight for themselves is undeserving of support. It's about having the will to fight and resist their suppressors
@8Y2RSRPConstitution2yrs2Y
Yes, Afghanistan is a waste of time
@8Y2RQY52yrs2Y
Yes, but keep a peacekeeping force there to ensure the Taliban don't come out of hiding and take over the nation in less than a month, oh hang on. that is exactly what happened right?
@8Y2LCQ52yrs2Y
This was a horrible idea
@8Y2HJ4BRepublican2yrs2Y
Yes, but we should do so strategically, and inform our allies of our motives.
@8Y2GWPF2yrs2Y
demolish iran,iraq,syria,china, north korea ,south korea , Vietnam, Taiwan ,Thailand, Asia,japan,jordon.
@8Y2FLR62yrs2Y
Yes but all citizens first and troops last.
@8Y2BXVKLibertarian2yrs2Y
Yes . But still continue to monitor and provide aid in other ways
@borghh10112yrs2Y
Not all, but most of them.
@8XZZR7D2yrs2Y
Yes, this is a waste of money.
@8XZYJM92yrs2Y
believe that we should pull them out, but it needs to be in a way that does not harm the country more.
@8XZTZWX2yrs2Y
They should've done so strategically. Pulling out of Afghanistan was the right call, but Biden's execution was horrible.
@8XZP8JC2yrs2Y
No, do not pull all troops. Leave half in Afghanistan just in case.
@8XZLT892yrs2Y
A safe and slow withdrawal working with local govt to ensure democratic and safe new ruling parties.
@jjdeforest2yrs2Y
Yes, but strategically and safely.
@8XZ9J4G2yrs2Y
If it was at a good time
@8XYZ8M62yrs2Y
Yes, and Biden's "extension" caused US defeat in the war.
@8XYQ6JP2yrs2Y
Slowly and strategically, yes.
@8XYN3WY2yrs2Y
no, but we should drastically decrease our number of troops.
@8XYMY7V2yrs2Y
Yes but not like how we did we needed to get everyone out there was no saving that place and take everything with us so that more people wouldn't die
@8XYL883Constitution2yrs2Y
Yes but not in the way biden did
@8XYK44KIndependent2yrs2Y
Don't pull out all troops but pull out some.
@8XYDTCZ2yrs2Y
No. While I understand the reason why people wanted to fully withdraw, it always leads to a power vacuum when American Troops completely pull out,
Yes, but slowly. Providing military and financial aid to the country is essential.
@8XY39DZ2yrs2Y
No, we should go back and restore democracy in Afghanistan and gradually replace our troops with Afghan troops.
@8XXYY482yrs2Y
I believe the USA should pull all military troops however it should be done slowly and strategically. The current evacuation plan was not done effectively and could have been handled better.
@8XXXH54Libertarian2yrs2Y
Should’ve done it slower
@8XXVVWGRepublican2yrs2Y
Unfortunately, President Biden already screwed this pooch
@8XXS43XRepublican2yrs2Y
If pulled out, a smarter way to do so
@8XXRKPT2yrs2Y
Yes, but try to keep the peace and provide aid if problems increase
@8XXQ54H2yrs2Y
no biden messed up and got solders killed
