Schumer seems to be overstepping here. Israel is not obligated to hold elections that would potentially lead to hold a new Prime Minister until 2026. Israel's election system is complex and I don't fully understand it either. However I do know that the current coalition took power in 2022 and chose Netanyahu, and they are able to remain in power for 4 years. Now it's true Netanyahu is very unpopular right now, but is that really cause for demanding new elections? Mr. Schumer is currently experiencing low approval ratings. How might he respond if someone suggested we have an election for his seat this year, despite him winning the seat in 2022 and having the right to serve until 2028?
