to keep inmates at the (privately run) Montgomery County CC. approx. half or more humans in MCCF are being detaining on NON-VIOLENT DRUG OFFENSES. AS AN UNNECESSARILY PROBATIONARY DETAINED , I have a first hand account to the vile conditions we were placed in; after first walking in reception, for up to 24+ hours, we got to share a concrete, bitter cold, room (12x12') with 1 open toilet and sink to be shared. I witnessed grown men sleep with the heads next
to the toilet when it was being used.
Next, we arrived at The Gym. .. not like what they just called it, no, it was hundreds
of us in a gymnasium meant for inmates to get off some extra stream (which just couldn't happened
apparently) We were then given a sack of "our new belongings", a blanket filled with *** stains for previous inmates *i could get into my horrible bed bug experience*,sheets with blood that everyone calls rust, and at this section of the tour de la jail, we were provided thin, 1.3", plastic/nylon/rubber/sticky mats. We found our spots on the floors, completely around the entirety of the gym, at least twice, about a foot or so of distance between us.
We had no clocks. No calls home. No paper or envelopes to write home. We had no running water. There were several instances where other inmates urinated and dedicated
on themselves in the trash cans, just to be verbally and physically attacked by correctional officers. After almost 5 days, they brought us in grounds into another part of the jail, where our level of safety surely dropped, and we're offered quick, old showers.
After more days of this hell, a group of about 20-30 of us were guided to a tiny room. what used to be an old classroom; however this classroom now had metal bunk beds, leaving about foot around them all, and a few inches above your face to stare at the ceiling if you were lucky enough to get that bunk. This continued on until the next move, but not after days of having little to NO water supply, zero running water and the ability to
